It's also tenanted at £500 PCM until 2027, according to the agent.  Four years' negative yield followed by several years' catching up is hardly an appealing financial prospect.

Not quite how I imagined the inside of a fairytale castle to look...

This house isn't terrible or anything but the layout seems a bit top heavy to me. This seems like a small kitchen/living/ dining area to be the only reception room for four double bedrooms.

My parents’ house has a seriously underpowered kitchen. It’s just an inter-war detached but the original family it was built for had ‘help’ who apparently didn’t need space to cook in! My parents eventually created a separate utility, and I expect the next owners will knock through into the dining room.

It’s obviously designed for teenagers.  Large bedrooms to hide yourself and your washing (both clothes and crockery) in, a large kitchen for creating snacks and an escape route into the garden for if they are asked to do anything!

It looks like the first bedroom is being used as a reception room. But calling it a fourth bedroom probably means you can ask more.

I’m wondering if we’ve reached peak TV? It’s a rare event for there to be two people on a sofa watching the same programme chez Spangles.

The state of television is an interesting one.  I was talking to someone in broadcasting the other day (don'tcha know) and her opinion is that scheduled programming will remain on air for the foreseeable.  The BBC are now talking of 'podcast fatigue' amongst committed listeners; those who partake are getting sick of either listening to ten hours of the same thing, or the alternative method of DIY DJing - spending ages finding something else to listen to when one podcast segment finishes.  The corporation's solution is to offer 'curated podcasting', whereby one tunes in and a selection of podcasts is cued up automatically.  The name, 'curated podcasting', is naff and ought to be replaced with something better.  How about 'live radio'?

Something similar is bound to happen to the bottomless jukebox of on-demand television, too.  The whole process of sifting through endless lists of programmes trying to find something good that one hasn't seen before sounds entirely tedious.  Some of us just want to turn on, tune in and drop out.  Curation, or whatever, is bound to make its way to on-demand TV sooner or later.  Plus I like watching telly with other people.  Comedy is funnier with company, snooker and darts are more engaging with a group and so on.

Oh, and the house is oddly laid out.  It would be better to get rid of the study and slide the kitchen down into the vacated space.  One could then have a separate reception room at the back.
