Urgh! One of my pet hates is TVs too high on walls. How can it be comfortable watching TV with crooking neck? I have been to various people's homes (before Covid) with TVs high on the walls and I hated it.

There's a Reddit forum just for you...

Worse case of mould growth in a bathroom I've ever seen.
I imagine they would have thought that this was quite fine when it was new. We are so used to living in a world of design dominated by grey and white now that we can't imagine how awesome this might have looked at the time! I wonder if such colour pairings will ever gain popularity again. ....
That would have been unimaginably luxurious when it was fitted.  Bathrooms of the thirties and forties were black and white and damp and cold.  Carpet was warm and soft and colours added personality and a sense of opulence never before considered.

No doubt they thought it fine at the time.  As I think I've alluded to before, this sort of decor was for some , highly suggestive of comfort and luxury and if you were of a generation who grew in in often pretty grim surroundings , it was perhaps an over compensation of that as "luxury" fitted carpets etc became more affordable , though a style , particularly the now passed fad for carpets in bathrooms, which hasn't aged well in contemporary times, while other styles have eg we often admire some 1960s 70s houses on here.
My mum and dad are sadly no longer with us - but if they had seen our lovely hardwood flooring, they would have no doubt been horrified and would have asked why we couldn't afford carpets.

It's like the old association (as my late parents had) with "lino" , you covered the floorboards with what you could afford (nowadays you might sand and vanish them)  - though linoleum is technically  different to vinyl - and quality varies -  the appearance is often similar as these things fall in and out of favour.
When visiting a schoolfriends parents flat in the late 60s/early 70s, (they lived on the same London council estate as we did) , their floorboards were covered with newspaper!

Looks like they've also laminated a whole load of family photos into their breakfast bar - never seen that before!
