Odd isn't it. Can only think that there is a leak! My only other plausible explanation involves the seller not wishing to fold the plastic down in case of deterioration but that doesn't really hold water.RandomDan said:
Rotten work on the trees in the "well kept communal garden" too.1 -

That's the main one I think for people of a certain age. My parents would would be in their 90s now if they were still alive and would have considered replacing a perfectly functional bathroom or kitchen a complete and utter waste of money.GDB2222 said:I find a lot of these posts rather upsetting. I can sympathise with the elderly folk, who just didn't want the disruption of workmen in the house. Plus, they came from a generation that was less spoilt, and they didn't feel the need to 'waste' money in order to keep up to date. As long as it worked, they kept it. Hence, the old pink suite, but the new white toilet. And, the listing above is of a £90k house. Maybe, the inhabitants were on the state pension, and they just didn't have the money for updating?6 -
I see where your coming from. I hope the pink/orange/avocado/brown bathroom posts are added in the 'look at this survivor of another era' spirit rather than the 'look at this monstrosity' spirit that should be reserved for awful modern builds and redesigns.GDB2222 said:I find a lot of these posts rather upsetting. As you say lots of people will live with things they don't explicitly like for years and for a variety of reasons, and others will like things that are completely out of fashion (and why not!?).7 -
I love my pink bathroom suite and my new house has a blue one upstairs and cream down - neither are going anywhere unless they actually break. I stayed in a house a few years ago with a brand new toilet where the button had broken on the flush and there was a crack in the cistern already.6

Not even sure what to say about this place! Super cluttered, dusty, some very unsettling dolls and pictures...

Its a combination of not enough money, don't want to go through the stress of having to move stuff, too stubborn etc. My grandmother, 93, is too stubborn to change her sofa and armchair, despite them being over 30 years old, very uncomfortable and too low for her. She rarely goes out now due to eyesight issues and arthritis. Her arthritis will be less of an issue if she gets a decent armchair and sofa. Does have the money to spend.GDB2222 said:I find a lot of these posts rather upsetting. I'm not saying that people are wrong to post them, just that I am upset by them.

My parents and I live 85 miles away so can't do much. Not seen her since Jan 2020.2 -
