Regarding styles, especially kitchens, I think it's safe to say white never goes out of style.

I'm quite a fan of the plywood units I see on various home improvement programs - you can't beat natural finishes and white.

I guess every colour will come in and out, but grey seems to have had 5 years or more in the sun. I'm betting on mint green and mustard for 2022-2030. You heard it here first.
I hope you are right. We have painted a lot of our kitchen, master bedroom and en-suite green this year and one of the bedrooms has mustard yellow wallpaper  :/

Is it just me or is grey now looking incredibly dated?
Pine stairs and coffee table also out of place. And a skinny Darth Vader overlooking nasty grey fences.
No it's not not just you.

That's the problem with jumping on the latest fashions, it absolutely guarantees your house will look dated a few years down the line. I predict high gloss kitchens and squared off baths, sinks & toilets will also go the way of avocado bathrooms and artex in the not too distant future.

I find the high gloss kitchen units dated now! Plus they pick up every fingerprint etc on them. Unsure what’s the next fashion for now!

Give me shaker style kitchen units anytime
Just shows how tastes differ. I find a shaker style kitchen to be incredibly old fashioned 😀
I think they're fairly timeless, they'll never be the ultra fashionable in thing but on the other hand will never look hopelessly outdated either - IMO of course.
Our shaker kitchen, with solid oak doors etc, is coming up for 15 years old - and still looks good.
It is a matter of taste. We had a white shaker kitchen in our last house that was fitted before we moved in and we were there for 12 years. It was fine, there was nothing wrong with it. We just much prefer the cream high gloss kitchen that we have in our current house.

Despite being white and cream both kitchens were surprisingly good at hiding dirt on the cupboard doors!

We had assumed that this high gloss kitchen would be a nightmare to keep clean but it has proven otherwise. The cupboard doors just get a wipe down with Koh once a week and don't really show up dirt or finger prints. I can imagine that a darker colour would perhaps show up finger prints more.
I have cream high gloss cabinets too - I like the look but sometimes the light shows every smudge!  They do clean easily though.

Well even with gloss white you can tone it down by adding door handles or a rectangular stencil so I'm sticking with my statement!

If they've read half of those books, they are really rather well read. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I saw this on the news today. That could make a lovely family home. It needs a lot of work now though.
