Apparently, a well known ferry company advert on local radio the other day, was suggesting folks combine a trip across the water with getting an MOT done whilst there. Opportunistic indeed.butterfly )i(0

Just to update. As commented here, Belfast seems to be still processing MOTs, as does Lisburn
Worth checking the "change your MOT date" links if you need a car MOT'd (rather than being happy with the exemption) as there are some cancellations appearing. At the time of checking (11:30 Sunday 9th) there were two slots for this afternoon in Belfast.
My cars in for MOT prep tuesday so will check daily from there.

Can’t understand why they call it an exemption certificate which implies that the vehicle is exempt from testing. Extension certificate should seem more logical as nothing over 4 years old is ‘exempt’.2

Ok, just to update the thread. I have been watching for cancellations appearing on the system and got one today for Lisburn @ 16:30. Went down, next to no cars about and they took the car no issue. They have two ramps working. Belfast also have two running.
So basically if you NEED an MOT (eg, if you want to sell the car or whatever) watch for cancellations for Lisburn and Boucher Road. These drop sporadically so check multiple times a day and also be ready to go at the drop of a hat.
So, car MOT'd right through now to 8th March 2021 - maybe they will have it sorted out by then.

Oh, there was a view from the MOT tester i was talking to that this would impact all year now even IF they got a solution, because of the knock on effect of deferring so many MOT tests.0

Has anyone received the refund of half of the MOT fee?0

I had mine booked for end of March and got a letter today to say it was cancelled. It mentioned a full refund being given, not a half refund and no mention of a discounted future test.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Tests cancelled less than 24 hours notice before 27 February get compensation of half of test fee in addition to full refund. They have no timescale as yet for these repayments.0

I was booked for 14th March, received a cancellation and exemption certificate today. It said the fee will be refunded.0
