Mine was due to expire in June and it has been extended to Oct. I didn't do anything its just been automatically extended. Also I can see it being extended in Oct, can't see an MOT being done till next year.

It seems to be a common theme
I Googled it a bit and can't find anyone from Feb who's had a refund; it's not a fortune I know but for a lot of ppl £30 is still £30 (a decent grocery shop).
It seems to be a lot of money for a department to be sitting on that is, by all accounts, self sufficient given it's income from test fees. I'm guessing its a collective 6 figure sum since Feb if everyone has to book to get an exemption letter😱0 -
I received the refund yesterday for an MOT booked for mid March
I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p0 -
My refund for February just through yesterday too.0

Thx for replies every1☝
It's been a month so i'll chase them via these links this week 😀👍
Rexel, you apply (book online is easiest), they'll cancel and then send you exemption letter and, as you are reading here, eventually refund you (!) They won't extend your MOT any other way (so driving past June 10th without extension would be a no-no for insurance). You can tax your car OK with the exemption letter.
BTW I sorn'd for last month of my car tax year, as I don't think i'll need car til July or Aug. Will get £17 rebate for May.
