I did reply seems someone was offended and deleted it. It's under a Rights Act i posted but must've had something not allowed.powerful_Rogue said:TimeLord1 said:https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/press-release/ofgem-drives-forward-plans-new-and-improved-smart-meter-rules?hl=en-GB
Also reading about £40 compensation if it's faulty for 90 daysAs of early 2026, Ofgem has introduced a significant new rule that ironically helps those who want "dumb mode":
Can't see anywhere in the link you provided that backs up your statement.

Controversial opinion: Suppliers should be able to have a tariff that is not constrained by the price cap for customers who refuse to have a smart mater. Then, let the market decided where such customers land.
(this would obviously exclude those that cannot have a smart meter due to signal, spacing etc issues)0 -
It is either heading that way anywhere or give it a few years and there will be an increased SC for refusers I suspect.MeteredOut said:Controversial opinion: Suppliers should be able to have a tariff that is not constrained by the price cap for customers who refuse to have a smart mater. That's a working group suggesting ideas. Have you got the documentation from where you said Ofgem introduced this 'significant new rule' ?TimeLord1 said:

Yes it was, it was some discussion about what would be needed to formalise an official "dumb mode", exploring what extra systems and bureaucracy would be needed by a number of parties. It did not put anything in place to formalise "dumb mode" nor even recommend it. I see elsewhere that this idea has been discussed since 2021.TimeLord1 said:

Dumb mode is the brain mode for those who believe conspiracy theories and try to block having a smart meter installed, nothing more.1
