FTB - First viewing of a house

Every house is going to require some compromises. I have a list of absolutely nots and maybes. If the house I am viewing does not fall under absolutely nots then I go for it. That's the plan anyway.
I have learned something from every house we viewed and I think that your right for me outside our location would be absolute not1 -

Try and be patient, I know this is extremely hard. I thought I was a patient person until I started this process!!0 -
I keep telling myself I’ve waited this long and the right house will be worth the wait. Looking forward to being in the same position as yourself when we have found something and our offer is accepted.
I will keep you posted and be interested on how things progress for you.0 -
We were in a similar position. In that we knew from the pictures that the house and the price was right and we didn't need more than 1 viewing.
The house was deliberately priced low because the vendor needed to move quickly as they had an offer accepted on a new build. Obviously, there was lots of interest.
We still went in offered less than the asking price, but agreed to meet their timings (4 weeks for exchange, 6 for completion) because we had no backwards chain.
As it turned out, the new build was nowhere near ready and it still took 3 months. The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

So we have put in an offer!!House came on the market Thursday, viewed it Friday and loved it, put in an offer Friday afternoon for £5k below asking. Now just to wait. We were the first viewing and they have other viewings booked in over the weekend. It’s turning into a long weekend1

Fingers crossed for you. I hope you find out early Monday if it has been accepted. It feels like forever waiting. I hope your EA has better communication skills than ours.Scottishgal19 said:So we have put in an offer!!House came on the market Thursday, viewed it Friday and loved it, put in an offer Friday afternoon for £5k below asking. Thank you trying not to over think it but couldn’t sleep last night
. Hope things are progressing well for you and not too stressful 0 -
We are waiting to see if the top of the chain have had there offer accepted.
You would be buying the wrong house if you was not excited about it. I couldn't sleep at all0 -
This has happened to us as well. Ticked all the boxes on paper, but on the viewing we walked through the door and thought NO!need_an_answer said:Wow totally underwhelmed! Lesson well and truly learnt. Do not judge a house by photos! Walked in and almost straight away knew it was not for us. I think I needed that experience to bring me back down to earth.
You are not alone with that type of experience, most people will have at least one viewing that goes exactly the way you describe....hence my post earlier yesterday.
We've all been there its all part of the learning process when buying a property.
Onwards,upwards and keep looking.
Hope you find somewhere soon.I used to be seven-day-weekend1 -
IMHO, location is the key. You can change the house. You can't change the location.Scottishgal19 said:
Hi we viewed the house last night. It is a nice house but didn’t feel it was right for us. I’m struggling at the moment with its location as it was a few miles outside our 5 mile radius from kids school but I thought we should go look at it.How did it go @Scottishgal19 ?
In that dilemma should we wait longer for a house in the right location or go for the right house in the wrong location?
When we buy it will be our home for a long time just don’t want to make the wrong choice but wondering if I’m being unrealistic.I used to be seven-day-weekend2
