FTB - First viewing of a house

  • We had another viewing and met the sellers. We still loved the house. Found out the previous offer they had fell through as they couldn’t get a mortgage. We got our mortgage offer with 24hrs so didn’t have to wait long. We have a possible entry date of beginning of may just waiting for that to be confirmed. Seems to be going smoothly so hopefully will continue that way.

How many do you have in chain?

We are now in a chain of 4.
Good news that it is going smoothly for you.
  • When do you have to leave your rented house? Have you had any news of when things will start moving forward for you.

We just signed a 6 month contract for our rented house. Hopefully things will be sorted by then.
Should find out today if we got the mortgage. HSBC have asked for a few documents and questioned a couple of things. Informative answers have been given. Valuation survey is booked for Thursday.

  • Fingers crossed for you everything goes smoothly for the mortgage and valuation. Keep me posted on how things go.

Mortgage has now been offered. Valuation was all good. HSBC made us jump through a few hoops regarding maternity pay but got there in the end
Just need to chain to complete and then will get things moving with the solicitor.

Congratulations on the progress. Out of interest and my ignorance you said the sellers chose you than someone with a 5k higher offer. Is that because you being a FTB reduces the chain and depency so they know you're all ready to go and won't have any more delays?

Thank you. A little less stressed now. Our vendor had 2 other offers at full asking price but both were in a chain. I highlighted the fact that we were FTB's, had a decision in principle and a solicitor in place. The vendor wants to move quickly so went with us.
  • That’s great Simonbk. You can relax for a bit now and hopefully the chain will complete soon. It does seem like a long process but will be worth it when your in your new home.

We have an entry date for the beginning of may. Starting to de clutter this house and then start getting non essential items boxed up then I think it will all start to feel real  :)

Indeed, certainly feels like we are getting closer. Starting to dream a bit more.
May will come around before you know it. I am hoping we can get in by then, will be all set for the summer.
De-cluttering the house sounds like a good plan. We need to have a clear out. The kids have loads of toys they do not play with so will be giving them to a charity shop.
