Ethics of selling Live 8 tickets for profit

It was only a question of time. People are now trying to flog these tickets on ebay - however as fast as they are going on, ebay are removing them!

We wanted to let you know that we will be permitting the sale of LIVE 8 concert tickets on eBay.co.uk. As we do not wish to profit from this event, we have offered to make a donation to the LIVE 8 charity at least equivalent to the fees we collect from the sale of LIVE 8 tickets.
We are allowing the sale of tickets because we believe that people can make up their own minds about what they buy and sell. The reselling of charity concert tickets is not illegal under English law and eBay believes it is a fundamental right for someone to be able to sell something that is theirs whether they paid for it or won it in a competition.

I think that it's a good decision by ebay and made all the better by the fact that they'll send the money on.

I never realised the texts came out today i thought it was on the 15th thats what it said in my confirmation text anyhow?? Oh well i only texted once just to have a go so to speak, and give a bit of money to charity

I thought that the first txt's had been sent today but not sure that they have all been sent out yet??

I heard the same. The radio was saying that all the winners (to £400 odd's worth of tickets) would know by Wednesday. I think that there's not a bad chance in winning - if there are 150,000 tickets and 2m entries, 7.5% should win...

Not a joke but probably people trying a bit of scam busting, ie using throw away ids to bid the price up to an unrealistic price to cost the seller time and money.

However, since the sale of Live 8 tickets are now specifically allowed on ebay these scam busters may find their throw away accounts suddenly get thrown away by ebay.
