a m8 of mine flogged a celtic scarf for £1000+ on ebay a couple of years ago as he was giving away two cup tickets "FREE" with the scarf. I'd imagine if any one wanted to sell the tickets on ebay something like that would be a way round it as you are giving the ticket away free? The same guy flogged a couple of U2 tickets recently in a similar way.

Not saying i would flog a ticket if i got one, but the way they are going about distributing them is leaving themselves wide open for it....

Difficult one really. If they are so worried about people selling the tickets on ebay, why dont they release the tickets on ebay themselves. People on ebay will only pay the market rate. The reason that they wont do this is that the promoters will be making a massive amount per ticket effectively when you think of the number of text messages at £1.50 each compared to the number of tickets they will actually issue, much more than they would if they just ebayed the lot off.

If one of those lucky 76,500 people wants to sell their ticket then i dont see what the problem is there. The promotors have already made a small fortune for that ticket.

APPARENTLY They are using the money to fund the event and any left over "profit" will go to charity! Thats what the official line is anyway...

Is any of this money going to go directly to charity? Surely this is a political campaign this time not a charity one? Check out their website https://www.live8live.com.

"This is not Live Aid 2.

These concerts are the start point for The Long Walk To Justice, the one way we can all make our voices heard in unison.

This is without doubt a moment in history where ordinary people can grasp the chance to achieve something truly monumental and demand from the 8 world leaders at G8 an end to poverty.

The G8 leaders have it within their power to alter history. They will only have the will to do so if tens of thousands of people show them that enough is enough.

By doubling aid, fully cancelling debt, and delivering trade justice for Africa, the G8 could change the future for millions of men, women and children."

I sold 2 tickets to the Liverpool/Milan champions League final a couple of weeks ago. I got them in a ballot on the UEFA website. They cost me UK180 and I received UK500 from a 'ticket merchant' who needed the tickets to sell as a corporate hospitality package with flights, hotels and so on. There were similar restrictions on selling them - named tickets, no e-bay, etc, but it was no problem to find a buyer on the Interweb.

I would guess that there will be similar packages being put together for Live-8, and would have no qualms about selling any tickets if I get hold of some. Live 8 make their dosh from the text messages and if someone were prepared to pay me for being lucky, I'm happy to count their money.

I think you'll find the same will happen for live 8 as has happened for Glastonbury. People have been setting up "bogus accounts" and then bidding for tickets - one pair reached £250,000 !! lol People who sell these tickets should be named and shamed, put on an aircraft and thrown somewhere over Gleneagles!

The first £1.6 million raised from the text competition will go to The Prince's Trust which is sharing a proportion of the income with Help a London Child. The rest, after paying the costs of the global LIVE 8 concerts (free events), will go to the Band Aid Trust

    thats from live8live.com

For those wishing to get tickets, don't forget the "answers on a postcard" option. ;)

Participants can also enter the competition by sending their response A, B or C on a postcard with their full name and address to:

Note this route of entry closes at 1pm on Friday 10th June

erm...why should they? Because they are making a bit of money. These tickets will only be worth what someone is willing to pay for them - if someone is stupid enough to pay a huge amount for them then so be it.

I dont see why they need to be named and shamed - Live 8 is a joke anyway. As if we dont give enough to poorer countries, now we are expected to wipe out their debts as well. They could help themselves as well by stop having babies.

    Peeps,

    The T&C's quite clearly state:
"Tickets cannot be transferred, replaced or re-sold" so selling, giving away or any such type is not allowed..................
"Success is not to be measured by the position someone has reached in life, but the obstacles he has overcome while trying to succeed." Booker T. Washington

Our problem would be that we would need 4 tickets (for the family), if we only get 2 then I would either want to try and get a second pair, or give our ones to someone else, so how does that sit with:-
"Tickets cannot be transferred, replaced or re-sold" so selling, giving away or any such type is not allowed.................."
