Newbies thread edit - remind me please what is needed!

The NEWBIES thread on this board - PARKING TICKETS, FINES & PARKING - is open and I have edited the first post, and shortened the template appeal to try to make it simpler.

I have not edited the other posts yet.

Could posters please reply here and remind me what needs to be changed?

This can also be used later as an ongoing thread to note planned edits for the future.

thanks!

NO POSTING ON THE ACTUAL NEWBIES THREAD PLEASE, YOU WILL NOT GET A REPLY.

In post #5 of the NEWBIES thread we see:
LBCCC/LBC/LBA = Letter Before County Court Claim/Letter Before Claim/Letter Before Action. DO NOT IGNORE IT. How to respond.
That 'how to respond' link needs changing. It currently points to LazyDaisy's 2013 thread which talks about ancient things like Annexes in the Practice Direction.

Perhaps move the comment about acronyms further up, or at least tell posters to print them off/write them out before starting.

The comment about the date last edited says 2018.

Is appealing in NI correct even though there is no PoFA, or is that part of the simplification. If so, should the IAS be added to the "do not appeal to PoPLA" part?
The S is missing off Wales in that same paragraph.

When appealing a "first contact" from a debt collector, should the suggestion to appeal as if it was a NTK say "appeal to the PPC as if it was the NTK"?

For the section about complaining first, include something to say "but don't miss the appeal deadline". I've seen a couple of threads where a poster was waiting/hoping for a landowner cancellation that didn't come, and missed the appeal deadline.

Not sure if you can correct THIS as it is actually Bargepole's post but it is the incorrect spelling of proprietary that everyone just blindly copies and pastes. It's in paragraph 7.

Bargepole could edit it , or a board guide could edit it to make it accurate , possibly asking him to update his sending method to include emailing as a pdf aka as KeithP details in his posts

Ensure all acronyms are included , including laws like CRA and dates like inception

Plus BPA CoP and IPC CoP etc

Perhaps have more posts dealing with different sections , like one for hire , lease and company vehicles ? Have a separate post just for lease or hire or company vehicles ?

Try to make it flow in a timeline order where court claims are next to the last post , and CCJ issues are the last post for example , then get crabman to copy his current old post into a new one at say post #8 , then to lock the thread again , lol

Ensure that the advice for Scotland is changed to reflect their new popla status and their new Transport Bill , leaving Northern Ireland on its own because nothing has changed for them

Remove old defence links and add the ones that are relevant from the AOBTD search , especially the basher52 and CEC16 ones , plus the one or two abuse of process links , after checking those for any typos or rewrites etc

Add a note that mse does not allow file uploads so people should use Imgur and Dropbox etc for file hosting

Add a note to NOT use a smart phone due to problems with accessing all the information , that ideally a laptop or desktop pc should be used , especially after not finding information on a smartphone. That a smartphone has limited capability for research and definitely not to be used for appeals or court cases or CCJ,s

ensure that it says that an apellant or defendant cand and should complain to either the retailer , or the managing agent of the site such as on a retail park , or to the actual Landowner themselves

to get the info above , also add some info about asking the council who pays the non domestic rates , google the site to see if its come up before , or as a last resort they can pay a small fee to the Land Registry to find out who owns the land

add something like a link to the court costs example , or add them into the court post , see below and adapt as required

    £100 - original parking charge
    £25 - court filing fee
£25 - hearing fee, if it gets that far
    £7 or £8 interest.
£50 - solicitor costs for preparing case papers (maximum, capped) - where applicable

So not much more than £200 - IF YOU LOSE!

Anything else they try to add will be spurious and must be challenged with the Judge.

IF YOU WIN - none of the above will be payable by you. But you could claim:

£95 capped maximum for loss of earnings/annual leave for half a day (take pay slips for proof)
Travel costs - public transport or mileage x 45p per mile
    Parking costs.

If the PPC has been wholly unreasonable in dealing with the court, then costs awarded against them could be considerably more, but the bar is set very high. We would advise nearer the time if we think this is worth you pursuing.

If I think of or find anything else I will edit this post accordingly

How to efficiently use the forum search function to elicit optimal results.

How to upload links to image hosting sites.

'Expectation management' in terms of quasi-legal advice.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    That didn't take long!

You must have missed in the thread list from which you accessed this one. It's the third one from the top.
