  • Found enough los in the fridge + wilted veg + the last of my hg tomatoes + red lentils + stock cubes to make a beef based soup. Very MSE as I thought I would have to make a ‘recipe’ soup.
Tonight’s dinner is pork chops & I have taken out chilli for Saturday & fish pie mix for Sunday. Trying very hard to make space for Christmas meat - hopefully from a butcher 🤞

  • I had a couple of bramley apples to use so i found a sheet of ready rolled shortcrust pastry in the freezer. i lined a dish with the pastry, filled it with a jar of apple and salted caramel mincemeat i picked up after christmas for 20p then topped it with the sliced bramley and then made a crumble topping for the top. It was absolutely amazing and was nice served warm for pudding after dinner this evening.
  • Yesterday was 3 different los for dinner - cheesy pasta, fish pie & chilli & rice.
Lunch today was very MSE - hm soup & hm croutons made from stale bread seasoned with olive oil, paprika & mixed herbs.

I have half a jug of cold custard, which has set - what can I do with it, other than put it in a trifle ?

Make banana custard, have it on fruit, warm it up and use on what you would normally use it on.

Once its made i treat it a bit like the ready to use custard you can buy in cartons.
This morning i made porridge for breakfast and topped it with some chopped up peaches from a opened tin that needed using. I heated them a little in a pan with what was left of a jar of honey that had crystalized.
Lunch is going to be a mushroom and sausage omelette using up leftovers from sundays breakfast and then dinner is leftover roast turkey in gravy with mash potato and leftover roast veggies from sunday.
    No waste yet this week.

Mix it with some fruit purée, compote or a coulis to make a sort of fruit cream dessert.

  • Yah boo 😒 The teeniest, tiniest sprouts I have ever seen ( from the Veg Box) have been used as worm food.

    Made guacamole.
