  • makes me sad that people continue to throw away perfectly usable food,  I was brought up just after the war and was taught well by my grandma and mum.  youngest son was amazed recently when I said I always try to fill the oven up rather than cook one item.

  • She might not be so blasé when 2nd spike, no-deal Br*x*t & the flu season kicks in 😱
I am with you cornishchick - would have used everything & it might have been fun trying to work out what to do with marmite/jam covered toast 😉
I was thinking some sort of french toast with the jam one and posh cheese on toast for the other one, I'd be interested in any thoughts as an exercise in ideas though.. :D
today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

  • I have never thrown eggs out and I have never cracked open a  bad one.

I may have made a bread and butter pudding with the jam one just to find out what it tasted like with jam. I often make one with the last two slices. I leave it soaking over night and put it in the microwave in the morning. It makes a lovely breakfast and you don't feel hungry until evening.
  • so the eggs were there to make the bread and butter pudding. Did he pour the milk out or throw any fruit out? That would have gone in the bread and butter pudding as well. Bananas are quite nice cooked into a bread and butter pudding too. I found that out when Asd* sent me 10 bananas instead of the tree I ordered. No sugar needed with the banana or the jam.
  • I was born at the end of the war so I remember when things came off ration. I was always hungry when I was a kid.
