made a nut/lentil roast for some friends on Wednesday evening, while the oven was on I finished off some jacket spuds in there. the leftover went into the fridge,
Thursday I made chicken rice, leftover into the fridge,
last night was nut roast and odds and ends of frozen veg with gravy.
tonight was the chicken rice leftovers made into a rice salad, with a jacket spud and some Y/S chicken steak.
still have a piece of the nut roast left, it freezes so if I don't fancy it tomorrow I can freeze it on slices.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Monday night’s dinner was from the freezer and garden. The courgette & potato soup is finished, so a raid on the freezer is imminent for our next soup 😉
I am still on a mission to empty a freezer for defrosting.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

I rarely throw away food that isn’t scraps.
Mostly it’s bread that we throw away because it goes mouldy within days“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Every few weeks I’ll make a shepherd’s pie or stir fry to use up whatever veg we have in the fridge.Mince gets split and half frozen and substituted with cheaper red lentils.Soft apples get turned into strudel as I always buy several blocks of reduced puff pastry & keep some in the freezer.
Bananas get the trusty banana bread treatment or sometimes chocolate banana muffins.
Odd leftovers of mashed potato that aren’t enough for a portion get flour and salt added to make potato cakes & then frozen.I freeze odds and ends of leftover soft fruits to add to water instead of ice cubes.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Another soup made from fridge los & los from the freezer. Really tasty 😋 & freezer a little emptier. The fortnightly Od*b*x had 17 small red onions so I feel a small batch of red onion Relish might be made 😉 Also need to make another batch of green tomato chutney. Nothing wasted or binned. Seem to be getting better at using up vegetables & dairy products. 🥳Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

The hm soup is delicious 🤤 & with the hm bread makes a lovely lunch.DSis bought TWO lettuces & I have had to put both in the compost bin 😖 not my waste but I do so hate to bin food.Last couple of days DH & I have been eating roasted vegetables with a bit of savoury mince for dinner. All peelings have been either zizzed & fed to the worms or composted.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

I'm staying at my partner's parents house for a few days to help out. and it amazes me how much food she wastes, today alone, 2 slices of toast with jam or marmite each, they didn't feel like 2 slices after cooking them. a bag of flour, dated end of august, 2 more slices of bread, cos it was the end of the loaf, 2 eggs, with the Saturdays just gone date, that was just this morning, when I've talked to her about it she states, oh we've been poor before and now I don't have to worry about it. it is her food and their money, but I couldn't help thinking about what I could have done to use that up loltoday's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
