Hi everyone, I love this thread.
How and what can I do with a small round goats cheese ? It came in a cheese hamper at Xmas, and is a week out of date but still wrapped up.
I usually make a cheese and onion flan, (no pastry) with all the scraps of unwanted cheese at the end of the week, but not sure about the goats cheese.

Flow2 is it a hard or soft goat cheese. With soft cheese I mix with chopped herbs and garlic then stuff and bake large mushrooms or do a pear, walnut and cheese salad. For a harder cheese you can treat it like 'normal' cheese but I would taste test it to see how goaty it tastes 🙂 it works with beetroot and caramelised onions so maybe a tartLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin5

Just before Christmas I bought 5 large pannetone for 10p each. After making loads of bread pudding and one bread and butter pudding I still have 2 left. Has anyone got any ideas for something a bit different? I don't eat it myself so it's down to OH to use it all up!"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

Recently I have been very successful - no food binned or wasted 🥳. Los have been utilised within 2 days rather than being frozen 😉 especially useful as I need to defrost my freezer 😉 Using up bits & bobs & droopy vegetables to make soups.Be Kind. Stay Safe. There are a couple here, the summer pudding and the one with chocolate that may be of use. Basically, wherever you might use bread or sponge for something you could use the panettone. Or a crumble type thing with fruit underneath...I used up a bottle of cream with a BB date of January1st in my mushroom soup yesterday, which was also using mushrooms that got affected in the big fridge freeze of 2021 thanks to the temperature in the lean to soaring to minus 4 which it did not like. Ditto for the peppers in a thai green curryesque afair and the carrots in a carrot cake.
