If you do have a clear out and there is stuff you wont use have you joined Olio? Its only on an app.
Food and non food items can be put on and hopefully someone in your locality can benefit. I have put several things on but unfortunately there is never anything being given away within a couple of miles of me. Maybe that's a good thing as stuff possibly isn't being wasted. I have read though of people benefiting from quite a range of foods, and I believe its worldwide.
I also only learned of Togoodtogo app this week and today I nabbed a 'magic bag' from the little local bakery. For £3.99 I picked up: 2 giant sausage rolls, curry pasty, cheese pasty, ham salad sandwich, chicken mayo giant wrap, large salad bowl, large custard cake, lemon tart, 3 large cream cakes and a 6 pk of pikelets.
I know it doesnt sound particularly healthy as such but I'm sharing it with my son and I think there are several meals there if you add some beans or whatever. (My eldest son moved into a flat this week and I halved my tin store and freezer to help him along : how much do we really need I say but I still buy more)
Its all about not sending food to landfill isnt it. I rarely ever throw food out, but then I do have 2 dogs too lol.
p00 xx

p00, that sounds like a very generous 'magic bag! I had a rather disappointing experience with Togoodtogo app from my local Costa as my magic bag only contained 3 muffins and I paid £3 for it. I protested that it was not good value but staff disagreed.

Slightly too many bread products with some going mouldy ☹️ Not completely wasted as thrown out for the birds 😉
Otherwise doing well. Los being stretched to make 2nd meals, freezers gradually being emptied with a view to defrosting & then restocking. Keeping an eye on fridge contents & making sure nothing goes out of date. Using up bits & bobs for hm soup.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Just mooching around and saw this thread - as I'm pretty much on a mission to use up all my food I thought I'd resurrect it rather than start another thread!
I'm currently using up my freezer 'surprise' boxes (stuff that the labels have vanished from and until defrosted, I have no clue about the contents! 🙈) and also have garden produce to use up - some if which I am freezing for later use but I'm trying to do a 50/50 split so that I get the best of fresh and frozen 😊
I'm pretty adventurous with food combos (vegan) so no concerns about random meals!
I've currently got half a large savoy cabbage from the garden to use up along with some carrots, beans (runner and green) so am planning on making some soup today - I've still got some cooked veg leftover too so I'm going to make a bubble and squeak for tonight's dinner 😊DNF: £708.92/£1000

Just found two packs of 6 fruit scones in the back of the cupboard, 5 weeks out of date - but look ok - not mouldy. Does anyone have any ideas what I could make with them?"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

had some beef stew leftover, it had been in the slow cooker for a little too long so was a bit mushy. Added it to some cooked rice, with a spoon full of curry paste and a hand full of peas and made a kind of tasty biryani.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
