Unbelievable thread! Never mind the gender of the OP - I'd like to know his/her age and mental health.
OP - you asked if RM should appoint a surveyor. No. If you wanted to pursue a compensation claim
a) you should have obtained a surveyor's report to back up your claim and
b) you should have done so before any repairs were undertaken.
But frankly I fear for your future as a home-owner. You'd have done better to remain in rented, with a landlord taking responsibility for repairs etc. If you get this upset about 3 bricks (not even bricks that were knocked out of the wall!), then it bodes poorly for the first time your roof leaks, you spill wine on the carpet or the boiler breaks down.
And to suggest that we don't understand.... well, 61 posts pretty much all saying the same thing. Do you not think that maybe that indicates you are over-reacting.....?

A company may well not be clear if a very noisy customer is entitled to the compo or not and rather than let a court sort it may pragmatically pay out as as a gesture of goodwill" even though it thinks the customer is legally entitled.
This stops a precedent being established
Precedents only get established by the higher courts anyway.0 -
• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

It was only about 2 weeks ago. Lots of people are flaky and easily upset when taking such a big (and expensive) step forward in their life, including those who have moved many times since and probably can't remember any problems they had on their first moving in day (I can't).
You've only got to read these boards to see how many people, not just first time buyers, get frazzled and overreact to things when they move.
Entitled to compensation? No.
Entitled to be upset? Yes.
It will soon seem unimportant - especially when the "roof leaks, you spill wine on the carpet or the boiler breaks down".0 -
Royal Mail..... Luftwafe.

OP, try to see the silver lining. The first damage (that you know about!) to your house wasn't done by you. You're off the hook. Now you can smash stuff, dent walls, scratch paint etc and you won't remember it as being the first damage to your pristine house. Thank you, Royal Mail.0
