Post office van drove into my brand new home

Perhaps then I would be expecting a gesture of goodwill and a real apology. So am I correct in thinking that a surveyor should be supplied by the RM to ensure the damage is repaired. Also can I add to this story a key element I have missed out which is why I'm angry about the situation.
The driver drove off and left no details. I found a piece of his van on my driveway and red paint on the floor and did my detective work.
I think the disrespect is what's upset me.
But that doesn't equate to a £ amount to which you're legally entitled.
By all means, feel free to chunter and huff under your breath at the postie next time he turns up...0 -

If you wanted a surveyor to inspect the building, that should really have been done before the damage was repaired.
Was it just some scraped/chipped bricks, or was the wall hit hard enough to cause cracking and/or dislodging of the bricks?
If it was just scraped/chipped bricks, it's very likely that it was just cosmetic damage. (House walls are very strong!)
If it was serious damage, I doubt that TW would have attempted to fix it for free.0 -

Just re-read the first post. The corner of 3 bricks?! Was that it? I was picturing something like you see in the newspapers!
As above, nothing due.
Try to see it as something to dine out on for many years to come. It's hardly traumatic
My ex-next door neighbours had their front wall knocked down twice by the bin men. Loads of damage. No compo. First time they claimed on their own house insurance. Second time, they got the council to sort it, although it took months - and the builder kept disappearing so the (relatively small!) job ended up taking well over a week.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Maybe just satisfy yourself with the knowledge that their van came out worse in the confrontation with your house.0

Have you ever had a house you bought driven into ?
Thankfully, I'm not holding my breath. Welcome to the joys - and responsibility - of home ownership.0 -
Hi,
stand firm and stop using the Post Office, refuse any letters/deliveries, don't even buy stamps, once they notice the drop in revenue, they will be happy to give you real apology and bung you a few grand.0
