True, but I think the question is what happens if your final statement is zero and your cashback is then added - how to you receive the positive final balance.

Because I don't like the CEO's comments or how they've handled this, I'd like my 5p that I'm owed :)

It the FAQ it states final cashback will be paid on your final statement.
Thanks.  Yes, but how will it be paid with a zero debit transactions statement?  By credit to my bank account?  Do I have to claim?

I would think you would need to call them as ask for the credit.
  • I already posted this on 21st Feb...
I contacted Tandem and they confirmed that card can be used until 9 Mar and will receive the cashback too, the statement will be generated for the transactions made till 9th Mar and will be sent on the app to settle based on your billing cycle, so if there is a direct debit linked it can be settled from there.  I hope this is helpful.

Thanks Ghostcrawler I was wondering where I saw this. I know I'm not paying mine off early.
  • yes, don't...even I am not paying off early and I have £410 to settle, so will wait for statement to generate which will have the cashback and will pay off as per my direct debit. With this we will also get to use £410 for longer.

This is why I got the Tandem card way in advance, so the Credit Check from when applying for it didn't affect my mortgage, but now all this planning was for nothing... :(
Credit scores aren't that simple, I think you are worrying too much.  Your credit score is improved much more by having a card that is used and managed sensibly than it is lowered by having a credit check or two.

Yes, but I mean what do I do from now on?
If I'm planning to apply for a mortgage this year, do I get a new credit card, leaving a new credit check trace, to continue my good credit history?
Or do I rely on my credit history from Tandem still being up to date enough and withhold from a further application for now?

In other words: Which one is the lesser evil: no credit card history after 9 March or another credit application?

Nenco - so why did you get the Cashback Card? I'm surprised you did, Tandem stated they were fairly selective about who got their Cashback Card
Tandem do have another credit card product, the Journey Card, which is for credit history improvement. This is still live and isn't part of the Membership program.
Luckily, my credit history wasn't BAD kind of bad. I didn't have anything negative on there, just didn't have a credit card to make it even better. And why not go for a Cashback Card if I can? Helps credit history AND gives me some cashback. Or do I miss something that will come back and bite me?
  • Any idea if refunds can still be processed, given the card is suspended? I'm guessing not. I'm asking because I used my Tandem credit card to pay the registration fee for a conference that has now been cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus. The conference hasn't talked about refunds yet but I'm guessing it will be on the cards.
