Cambridge BS's Regular Saver Issue 5 can now be opened by snail mail (was branch only before).

2% fixed rate for 12 months with maximum monthly deposits of £300.

Thanks for this. Useful to know if you don't already have a Regular Saver with Cambs BS.

It seems that you can only have one RS with Cambs at any time. It's not one per issue (as eg Virgin Money). Shame. I would like to have opened an RS Issue 5 but already have Issue 4.

The website also lists a branch operated passbook regular savings account paying 2.25% http://uk.virginmoney.com/savings/find/regular_saver_issue_1/overview/ It is a different account from the E-Saver therefore I can't see any reason why you couldn't have one of those accounts as well.

In theory up to £750 a month at 2.25% plus access to the Virgin Money lounges and regular free prize draws :money:

The Store account has a different Issue number and is available even if you have Issues 1 and 2. Off to open one tomorrow! The Store staff don't exactly exude efficiency on the phone.

Good luck! I was refused one in store yesterday and again this morning, but finally convinced a more senior member of staff that it was a different issue number, and therefore ok.

You fill in the paperwork and have to give 2 forms of ID. The account is supposed to be opened in 48 hours and a passbook posted to you. Fingers crossed.

On a side note, if you have a Virgin Money account then there are a number of Virgin Lounges dotted around the UK (a couple in London, one in Sheffield, Manchester, Norwich, Glasgow and Edinburgh).

You need to register online to get access to the lounge. The lounges have Wi-Fi, use of iPads/iMacs, newspapers, magazines, comfy sofas/chairs to relax, tea/coffee, soft drinks, fruit/other snacks, baby changing facilities and toilets.

    All for free.

And now there's the added bonus of applying for a 2.25% regular saver.

I've used the London (Eagle Place), Edinburgh and Norwich lounges. I would highly recommend all three. Very useful when you're away from home and need a no-nonsense place to rehydrate and recharge your electrical devices.

Only at Sheffield, Glasgow and Haymarket. The others don't actually have banking facilities.

(Which does make you wonder why they have launched branch-only products).

Because they also have branches/stores that are not Virgin Lounges?
