The Store account has a different Issue number and is available even if you have Issues 1 and 2. Off to open one tomorrow! The Store staff don't exactly exude efficiency on the phone.
Good luck! I was refused one in store yesterday and again this morning, but finally convinced a more senior member of staff that it was a different issue number, and therefore ok.
You fill in the paperwork and have to give 2 forms of ID. The account is supposed to be opened in 48 hours and a passbook posted to you. Fingers crossed.0 -
I asked on Live Chat and got an instant answer Yes, sure, it has a different Issue number.0

On a side note, if you have a Virgin Money account then there are a number of Virgin Lounges dotted around the UK (a couple in London, one in Sheffield, Manchester, Norwich, Glasgow and Edinburgh).
You need to register online to get access to the lounge. The lounges have Wi-Fi, use of iPads/iMacs, newspapers, magazines, comfy sofas/chairs to relax, tea/coffee, soft drinks, fruit/other snacks, baby changing facilities and toilets.
All for free.
And now there's the added bonus of applying for a 2.25% regular saver.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

The original VMLs like Eagle Place were intended as lounges only i.e. no hard sell. The Haymarket along with Sheffield are the next generation lounges with banking facilities partly a decision change and also they have the space unlike Eagle Place.Free thinker.:cool:0

This may be of help.
There are 72 Virgin Stores littered around the country. There is one in Stockport (with banking facilities). There are a handful of Lounges, I don't know exactly how many but there is one in Manchester, a huge one in Sheffield and obviously one or more in London.
The Store in Manchester is on King Street, the Lounge is at the corner of Albert Square (Princess Street corner). The Lounge in Sheffield is something to behold (I was shown a DVD). It contains inter alia a bowling alley, a cinema, pool tables and wonderful modern furnishings - it may be worth a trip just to visit it!
On your first visit to a Lounge you register and are given a membership card (an ID photo is taken). That gives you ready access to all the UK lounges. You become a member of the 'family' - and you are looked after.
The process was a bit halting - the rep wasn't sure initially that it was available to me, already having Issues 1 and 2. She described it as Issue 1. Head Office on the phone to check wasn't too sure initially, but it eventually came good. My details were copied from my online record, I signed it and paid my £250 in cash. There is a pass-book and from what I was told it is only operable via the Store (phone, e-mail, visit). A Standing Order will work.
There are loads of benefits coming from being registered on the system - periodic money-off offers, train discounts, etc. And of course the possibility of winning a free trip to the moon in the draw. It may be one way, you might have to pay to come back.
I don't work for Branson.0
