That all makes sense now, hence why they amended the 'up front' rate as shown when you are logged into the account online to say 3.05% rather than 1.25% as was the case previously. So basically the system knows that if you close your a/c in February it needs to apply any closing interest at the full 3.05% rate from the BON RAT CHG DEC online marker.

It'll be a shame to close it down (just as was the case with the Issue 2) but there are better deals out there so I'll be queuing up to close it come February. Another customer lost.

Stupid question, but how do you get money out of the Leeds passbook accounts? I assume they're old fashioned and make you take/send the passbook for a cheque withdrawal. Is there any way of receiving withdrawals by bank transfer?

As far as I can see there is no facility to make withdrawals or transfers-out online so I'd assume you go to a branch or post passbook off to them with your instructions. I had this address in my notes.......

    Internet Accounts,
    Leeds Building Society,
    105 Albion Street,
    Leeds,
    LS1 5AS.

Dunno why they bother to call them Internet Accounts when it would seem all you can really do online with them is check your balance!
  • When I popped into the branch a couple of weeks ago they told me that the interest rate for Issue 3 was going down to 2.3% sometime in January, I asked if there would be any other changes and she said no but I guess that wasn't final. Oh well, it was good while it lasted. The options dwindle ever further.

I've checked my LBS letter again and it says that.......

"To protect the benefits of your RegularSaver, the bonus will be unconditional from 1st Nov 2016 through to 31st Oct 2017. This means that even if you miss a payment during this time, you won't lose your bonus".
"will be unconditional from 1st Nov" - surely they should have said "has been unconditional since 1st Nov" - although they didn't tell us at the time.

"even if you miss a payment" - Payments will be impossible, when the account is closed to new money.

    I haven't had the letter yet. :(

    Hi Folks,

I have completed this weekend's update for the first page of this thread.

I have moved the Virgin Money Regular e-Saver account from the "matures after more than 12 months" section to the under 12 months section as the maturity date is 20th October 2017 and we are now less than 12 months from that date.

I cannot see anything else that has changed.

I will do another update next weekend.

For those new to this thread, the first few posts are constantly updated and are here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...=608697&page=1
The Virgin Money Regular E-Saver has a new issue:

    Virgin Money Regular E-Saver Issue 2 maturing 20th December 2017 2.25% http://uk.virginmoney.com/savings/find/regular_e_saver_issue_2/overview/

The terms allow you to open one account per issue so it is possible to open this and save another £250 per month, even if you already have the first issue E-Saver account.

The website also lists a branch operated passbook regular savings account paying 2.25% http://uk.virginmoney.com/savings/find/regular_saver_issue_1/overview/ It is a different account to the E-Saver therefore I can't see any reason why you couldn't have one of those accounts as well.

In theory up to £750 a month at 2.25% plus access to the Virgin Money lounges and regular free prize draws :money:

    Good spot!
Looks exactly the same as the Issue 1, but with a different maturity date.
  • Just for the avoidance of doubt: Virgin's online 'web chat' have just now confirmed to me that it's allowed to hold both RS Issues 1 & 2 at the same time.
  • Thanks FabSaver for the heads up. I've just opened my Issue 2 alongside my Issue 1.

    Many thanks for sharing.
  • It looks like Skipton Building Society won't be doing a Festive regular saver, I was in branch last Friday dealing with my matured regular saver I started before last Christmas, and the assistant serving me said that they won't be offering one this year.
