Rate reduction from 01-09-2016.
This is a massive drop from 2% to 1.3%.
In all the savage cutting since the BoE rate reduction I think this has to be one of the worse so far.0 -
I can confirm that holders of the Santander Regular eSaver (issue 1) can apply for the Regular eSaver (issue 2). They are completely separate accounts.
I am an existing Regular eSaver (issue 1) customer and I successfully applied for issue 2 this evening. The account is now open.
They are actually listed as 'Regular eSaver (issue 1)' and 'Regular eSaver (issue 2)' on online banking.
The terms and conditions refers to "Maximum one account per customer in sole name only" but this only applies to the specific issue you are opening.
Well done Kazza. As yet I have seen no other saver claiming to have done the same.
I called in at a Branch with no real luck but the lady did take on board the Issue 1 and Issue 2 angle.
I further tried last night by a telephone call (18.30). The operative was quite helpful and even went to double check with his supervisor but again no luck.0 -
"They are the same account sir. They are the same account sir. They are the same account sir" "you can only have one sir" !!!0

Santander Regular eSaver
Despite quoting Kazza's success to them today they won't allow me to open an issue 2.
Still, it was worth trying.0 -
Regular Saver Wannabe: I'd like to open a Regular Saver Issue 2 account please.
Santander representative: You already have a Regular Saver account sir/madam. Therefore, you can't open another one.
Regular Saver Wannabe: But Kazza242 was allowed to open another Regular Saver.
Santander representative: I'm afraid you can only have one Regular Saver.
*telephone conversation continues with some toing and froing which includes discussion with the manager/senior supervisor (who in actual fact is just their colleague next to them), heated discussion about the 'ambiguous' T&Cs and that Issue 2 is a separate account to Issue 1, etc. Phone call ends with the unsuccessful attempt of opening another Regular Saver*
Santander representative says to colleague: That's the 7th customer I've had today trying it on to open another Regular Saver and the 4th customer to reference 'Kazza242'!
Oh Kazza you little trouble maker.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

I'm sure they'll still have the 2nd account and it will pay its interest with no problems. We just need to get the person on the other end of the phone to start and complete an application. You either need a clueless person or a good a bribe.
If only we could apply online...:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

I highly doubt it. Considering Santander state that they may revert the account to an everyday saver that pays 0.25% interest just for potentially accidentally depositing more than the stated amount in one month, I highly doubt they will allow Kazza to receive the advertised interest on both of them. I'd bet that both or one will be converted to an everday saver or one closed.Homeowner:j0 -

I opened a 2nd 123 a/c in my sole name in April (I wasn't aware it was one a/c in sole name per person) and have received the full 2.96% every month.0
