By STO only but the new regular saver account does appear on internal transfer drop down options. Perhaps Santander want you to use a STO but there appears to be no reason why one cannot use the transfer option either. In view of the fact that one can make multiple deposits in a month (upto £200 max) then it is not so realistic to have multiple STO to achieve that.0 -
Managed it in (just) under 12 mins - most of the time taken up with all the bum-covering guff (full marks to C/S for not groaning before starting to read it to you).
Info needed: Name, Address, DoB, Sort code, Account number, last 4 digits of debit card, expiry date, CVV code, email address, mobile number.0 -

Account opened this morning in branch, only option 15 minutes with Personal Banker.
S.O set up to go out tomorrow, I just took a look, clicked on Standing Order, could see MonthlySaver, clicked "take me to" and there is an option to amend amount and date etc.0 -

For avoidance of any confusion as my post says - I set up the SO and it was the SO that transferred the money across - so fully as per the regular saver T&C's.0 -

Email received from Santander with the following relevant extract:
Eligibility requirements
The Regular eSaver account has a funding limit of £200 every month, if you deposit more than £200 in any month,
Santander reserve the right to revert your account to an Everyday Saver account and you will no longer be eligible for the interest rate on the Regular eSaver.
The Regular eSaver must be funded from your Santander current account by a standing order. If you fund your Regular
eSaver account by any method other than by standing order from your Santander current account, we reserve the right to transfer your account to an Everyday Saver account.0 -
I can't understand why Santander haven't arranged online opening for the regular savings account, especially since anyone opening one must already have a Santander Current Account.
I've just opened one by phone. Got through straight away, then spent 15 minutes on the phone to one of their customer service reps whilst they went through the T&C's and actually opened it.
Each Customer Service rep is only going to be able to open a maximum of 4 accounts per hour. Allowing online opening would surely be more cost effective?0 -
Was in branch today for other reasons, asked about new reg saver and have to make an appointment, and no appointments available for ages.
Was told account will be available on line 'in due course'0 -
32 minutes for me, including 10 minutes 'muzak' to begin with.
The very polite young man with the Irish accent then kindly went through it all again for my husband - taking less than 15 minutes.0
