I have been infomed that they would no longer sending applicaition pack via post.

People who have got it, coud you please share your knowledge which number you were calling. My experience in the past for good product like this, it will depend on who you are dealing with as some staffs might have some forms of dicretions.

Also anyone finds the Online form that coukd be downloaded and posted to them ? In the past this method sometimes work.

adindas - I'm afraid you are too late for this account, and as Karlie88 says, there are no forms to download.

The Penrith Building Society is apparently the smallest and appears to have only one branch (in Penrith), and even if you were able to get up there I doubt if you would be able to open the account.

I imagine there was a very small number of new accounts they had to allocate (and most of them were probably opened by MSEers...).
  • Rang Penrith Monday first thing, received the forms Tuesday and returned them same day. They obviously got them Wednesday and I received passbooks this morning (Thursday).

I wish all building socs were this efficient!:j

The only suggestion I have for you is to contact them via their internal mail http://www.penrithbuildingsociety.co.uk/ and request that you be considered for the account if the allocation is not fully taken.

So just to double check, a "good" photocopy of a passport and a bank statement is all that is necessary.

When you get things "verified", quite often you have to pay to get it done. What have other people done?

    And a cheque to yourself?

    Thanks

I sent high quality, colour photocopies together with the form and a cheque to myself.

The problem is, if you haven't already sent them in you might not get the account. An application form wasn't a guarantee of an account as they were in high demand. Get them in the post today first class and cross your fingers!

I suspect that those who have received the application will have their account opened, even if the forms are received next week.

But as you, post 'em ASAP.

Could people share their experience when apply by post.
In the past when they ask for certified Photo ID black and white and I will ask my colleague who is a professional and member of respected non - financial organisation to countersign it.

But less than a year ago I applied for a saving account to Principality BS. I sent them the same document that I used to send (e.g. certified Photo ID black and white certified by my colleague). But they returned it they were asking me to either certified by a solicitor or by a member financial organisation (forgot the actual name but something like banks, staff, etc). So needless to say I did not send it back as to me this is a ridiculous request considering I will need to pay for certification with such a tiny gain in interest. Sometimes the one working in Banking sector are a bunch of ignorant.

But nowadays if I read it correctly (above post is an example), a high quality, colour photocopies for Photo ID without the need for certification is sufficient. I would like to know if this is the case????
If so this is really a good news as producing a colour copy is relatively easy just take a picture or scan your passport and print it in colour printer.
Would love to hear people experience ….

    Thanks
