I sent high quality, colour photocopies together with the form and a cheque to myself.
The problem is, if you haven't already sent them in you might not get the account. An application form wasn't a guarantee of an account as they were in high demand. Get them in the post today first class and cross your fingers!
Could people share their experience when apply by post.
In the past when they ask for certified Photo ID black and white and I will ask my colleague who is a professional and member of respected non - financial organisation to countersign it.
But less than a year ago I applied for a saving account to Principality BS. I sent them the same document that I used to send (e.g. certified Photo ID black and white certified by my colleague). But they returned it they were asking me to either certified by a solicitor or by a member financial organisation (forgot the actual name but something like banks, staff, etc). So needless to say I did not send it back as to me this is a ridiculous request considering I will need to pay for certification with such a tiny gain in interest. Sometimes the one working in Banking sector are a bunch of ignorant.
But nowadays if I read it correctly (above post is an example), a high quality, colour photocopies for Photo ID without the need for certification is sufficient. I would like to know if this is the case????
If so this is really a good news as producing a colour copy is relatively easy just take a picture or scan your passport and print it in colour printer.
Would love to hear people experience ….

Hi,
Wondering if anyone could check that I am correct on this:
I have a Newcastle Big Home Saver (It is the original one that pays 2.98% inc Bonus / 1.98% exc. bonus), that is no longer open to new applicants.
I can pay £1 - £1,250 in per month.
Would it be possible for me to open one of the Newcastle Big Home Savers (Issue 2) that also allows you to pay in £1 - £1,250 per month but only pays 2.54% inc Bonus / 1.54% exc. Bonus.
Despite it saying in the Product Special Conditions that:
"2. The Account can be held in single or joint names. There is a maximum of one account per person.

I am thinking I can as although it is a very similarly named account to the Big Home Saver it is actually a different account thus meaning I can have one of each?
Do people think I am correct in this?

I have both and I believe others have too.0

In this case I just followed the instructions sent with the application forms. Either certified copies or good quality photocopies which would then be verified electronically
A lot of the accounts I've opened online are able to verify your ID electronically, so I guess it's no different. It's purely down to the processes each financial institution has in place.0 -
I called Penrith first thing on Monday morning to request an application form. It arrived in Wednesday morning's post.
Thankfully, I had the day off on that day so I completed the forms and returned it via 1st class recorded delivery the same day. They signed for it at 8:30am yesterday and I received my passbook in the post this morning. I am an existing customer so no ID was required.
(In reply to Mary's post - when I first became a Penrith customer, I sent them a verified photocopy of my driving licence and a recent bank statement. Barclays verified my ID document free of charge and on the spot.)Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
I have both issue 1 and 2, opened online; however when I was in branch with passbook for an ordinary account, the counter assistant queried about the two Home Savers - she said only one issue per person was allowed.
There has been discussion on here in the past that their computer system isn't geared up to reject applications for issue 2 when the holder already has an issue 1 account.
Keeping both my accounts until they 'officially' notify me otherwise!0 -
