I phoned Chorley BS today and was told that all applications received before the 18 month Sunshine Saver was withdrawn 'late on Thursday afternoon' will be accepted.
It could however be a while before they are processed.
Got my passbook in the post this morning and my opening cheque was debited today, too. Value date of initial deposit is October 2, so pretty happy with them so far0 -
Loughborough.
I just got a letter in the post from the Nottingham Building Society Loughborough branch stating that my applications for opening both the Special Saver Issue 2 and Regular Saver have been rejected as they are branch based accounts and cannot be opened by post. This was after I got a receipt from them stating that they had received my cheques.
I don't think it's worth anyone sending an application form to the Loughborough branch unless someone else has had a different response.0 -
Apparently Nottingham have changed their application and ID process which means you need to be physically in the branch to sign the passbook. This is a recent change (last week) which applies to both new and existing customers. They are most definitely now branch only to open a regular saver account.0

I've been told all along that the reason they can't open accounts by post is that they need you to sign the passbook.0 -

Are you an existing customer?
I received my Special Saver (issue 2) passbook in the post last Thursday. The same branch also sent me my Summer Saver maturity cheque last week. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
I opened a Nottingham BS Regular saver and a Special saver recently in branch, having moved into the area.
Just 10 days later, when I wanted to open Special Saver 2, I had to go into branch again, with my ID, again, to sign up for the new account.
I was told that they were tightening up on procedures from that very day, and she would lose her job if she failed to follow procedures.0 -

Yes, I am an existing customer. I have a Christmas Saver account, which is due to mature next month.
Did you speak to a member of staff at the branch prior to sending off your application form?0
