Penrith Building Society have launched a new regular saver, called Regular Saver 300. It pays 3.00% and is a three year bond.

You can deposit between £25 - £300 per month. A maximum of three withdrawals are permitted per year (January to December).

The account can be opened by post or branch.

    Further details here.

They'll also be opening a 2015 Christmas Regular Saver on 1st December on a first come, first served basis.

4% and £250 per month. Post or branch.

The Saver Plus issue 2 account can be opened via the website and the geographical restrictions seem to have been removed.

I also noticed that the First Home Bonus Saver account is now listed under the closed accounts section on the website.
  • Hi Folks,

Thanks to the people who have posted above. I have updated the first page of this thread as follows:

    - Added Penrith BS Regular Saver 300 to post 3
    - Removed Monmouthshire BS First Home Bonus Saver from post 8
    - Updated Monmouthshire BS Saver Plus (Issue 2) details in post 2 to show that account opening is no longer restricted to local people

I will do another update next weekend.

A question about the Leek United 2.25% account (http://www.leekunited.co.uk/savings/products/regular-savings/regular-savings).

Would I be correct in saying that the 2.25% is paid on the entire balance, not just deposits in the current anniversary year? I.e. you could build up a bigger balance over time?

Yes, it's a regular saver that doesn't end after one year. So, interest will be paid on the whole of the balance, whatever that may be. As long as you don't make more than one withdrawal between anniversaries of you opening the account.

Interest gets calculated daily on the daily balance, and gets paid on the anniversary. If no more than 1 withdrawal has been made in the anniversary year, the interest will be paid including the bonus. Otherwise the interest is paid without the bonus.
  • Hi Everybody,

I have added the Nationwide FlexOne Regular Saver to post 3 (thanks Archi Bald for pointing this one out).

I cannot find anything else that has changed this week.

I will do another update next weekend.

I am interested in opening the 5% Special Saver with Nottingham BS. I am driving from Watford to Yorkshire along the M1 on Tuesday so I can call into any branch along the way. Is there a particular branch I should choose or avoid? For example, because they either are very familiar or not familiar at all with the product?

Groby or Shepshed seem convenient enough.

I intend to phone up tomorrow to make an appointment.

Agency branches, BB, might not accept Standing Orders.
