Great service in Skipton yesterday. No appointment needed, took less than 10 minutes to open my account, issue passbook and pay first £250 in. Very impressed so far!0 -
Also took me 10 minutes. There's a maximum of £3,000 on the account so if you opened the account in November and pay £250 per month the last payment is in October.0

"Alternative could be £250 each into BOS, Lloyds and TSB monthly saver @ 3% AER fixed"
Not any more I'm afraid, looks like BOS have dropped their rate to 2%, not sure about the others.
This made me look at online banking. It says 0% for me. What does it show for others? The correct 3%, 2% ( when did it drop?) or 0% like me?
Lloyds is showing as 2% for me even though they are still advertising 3%. Again is that a glitch that everybody has on their online banking page?0 -

Lloyds is showing 3% when I look at my monthly saver online.
TSB and Lloyds still advertise 3%, fixed for 12 months, as the current rate.
BoS dropped their rate to 2% from 26th of November

Hi Folks,
Here is this weekend's update.
- Chorley BS Regular Saver (Issue 1) added to post 2; as mentioned above it pays 2% on up to £500 per month with no maturity date
- Bank of Scotland Monthly Saver interest rate reduced to 2% for people opening an account from 26th November onwards
- West Bromwich Adult and Children (Issue 2) regular savers both withdrawn, issue 3 not yet launched
I cannot see the Chorley BS Santa Saver on their website yet but I will add it once it becomes available.
I will do another update next weekend.

w brom have an issue 3 out now.

Maximum £100 per month. branch only. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Three of the Christmans saver accounts in post 3 (longer than 12 months) mature at end of November 2014, which is now less than 12 months:
Notts BS
Skipton BS
Principality BS
so should presumably be moved to post 7 (assuming they're still available)0 -
Christmas Saver 2014 .. 4.25% .. £25-£250 pm .. matures 31/12/2014
This is the first time that I have noticed Penrith display this account on their website. I have had such a saver with them for 3 years. It was strictly for locals but they have opened their doors to non locals.

Interest rate of 4.25% on this page
http://www.penrithbuildingsociety.co.uk/savings/savings-current-products-and-rates/
Note the rate is variable which I'm not keen on for an account where you can't withdraw money (without penalty) until November 2014, but I'm guessing they won't reduce that or will allow you to exit without penalty if they do.I came, I saw, I melted0 -

Your first link says £25 to £250 per month
Your second link says £2500 to £25000 per month under the central column which says Investment.
Slight inconsistency.0
