I had an errand to run earlier so called into Home Bargains. I buy large jars of pickles there like pickled cabbage and beetroot. Disappointed that they don't seem to sell beans ( like butter beans etc. ) any more as they used to be very good value in there.

I bought myself a deep muffin tin too so I can make slightly less 'mini' quiches. I'll do some later when the oven's on. I know they're good for packed lunches but I just enjoy snacking on them.:)

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, banana, skinny syrup (F), HEB porage with HEA milk
L: Leek and potato soup (S,F), ham (P), pickles (S)
D: beef in 'red wine' casserole (P,S), SW roast potatoes (F), cauli, broccoli, kale, cabbage, swede & carrot mash
    Syns: cornflour 1, weekend wine:)

Maman I've got a couple of the deep muffin tins (well mine are actually silicon!) and I use them to make baked oats in. I get 2 baked oats Muffins out of my 40g of oats. I really like them done as muffins rather than in a single tin, means I don't have to eat them all at once, so can I have one hot with some fruit & quark for breakfast and the other one cold later in the day as a snack.

I've got a beef in 'red wine' casserole on my menu plan this month! Far better to use the stockpots than waste Syns on red wine which I'd far rather drink!

I bought mixed beans in the Home Bargains in the next town last week. Wonder if your HB had just run out rather than not stocking any more. Having said that I didn't actually check other means as I only wanted the mixed ones (which I use for goulash).

Well done mrs.butler that's an amazing loss.

Another load of washing in the machine and nearly ready to hang out on the line, very :money:.

    L - chicken thighs, syn free scotch egg; salad - P; F; S
D - shepherds pie using LO roast lamb from yesterday, mashed swede, green beans, peas - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - none planned but will probably find something this evening!

  • Wow, well done Tweets & Mrs B, that is an amazing loss. I may have gone slightly off plan over the weekend, :( Boy can I feel it today, but back on the horse and have got to admit, it was my first weekend for months that I had only 1 commitment, and that was lunch yesterday, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. So it was a wander round Green Park, chatting up the police on security outside the Egyptian Embassy (!), going to China Town for late lunch/early dinner. Got a load of speed to eat before I fly to Egypt on Thursday night, so will be good!

Got a message from my sister about the events in Streatham, what events I thought:D Had a look online, I can walk to where it happened in about 20 mins:eek:
A smile costs little but creates much :)

Tete I'm not sure it would work using a white sauce rather than a creamy sauce - it certainly wouldn't be a stroganoff without a creamy sauce! When you say you've got no cream or yoghurt I suppose that also means you haven't got any half fat creme fraiche or fromage frais as both of those would work

Thanks for the advice Denise, in the end I did more of a beef and mushroom stew (no milk or any sort of creamy stuff), but included the cornichons you'd get in a stroganoff - it wasn't horrible.

Morning all and happy new week! Well done, that's an amazing loss MrsB! Well done on your STS too Tweets, are you still at target (I remember your goal for the challenges always used to be 0)?

I had a whole bottle of wine over the course of the weekend and it is definitely showing on the scales this morning so I'll have to rein it in the next few days if I want to continue my losing streak :o

    Today:
    B - Banana
D - Austrian hash: Potatoes, bacon, leeks, mushrooms, boiled egg
T - Stew: Beef, mushrooms, onions, cornichons, with frozen green beans to keep it speedy
    HEA - Milk
    HEB - Almonds
Syns - Sugar in coffee (4), cornflour in stew (1), hot chocolate (2) = 7
    Weightloss: 14.5/65lb
