Morning all,
Arkers I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, keeping everything crossed for the all clear for you this year. Hugs to all those stress-eating, I totally empathise.
Well done Majorica and GTQ on your losses :TThought I'd just report back about the mustard beef with mushrooms from the Slimmingeats website. It was really tasty but could have done with more mustard in it - we both added some more at the table but would add an extra tablespoon when cooking it when I make it again. Yes I will be making it again!
Thanks for letting us know, this one appealed to me when it was mentioned (I love mushrooms!). I wondered about substituting actual mustard with mustard powder (which is free), certainly if you're going to use more than the recipe calls for? Just a thought, I'm no chef by any means!
I'd never heard of a snowball melon either but if they're sweet then I'll probably like them! Will look out for them, though tbh I want to try to live from the freezer/pantry this coming week.
Today:
B - Banana
D - HM leek, sweet potato and bacon soup
T - Steak and mushrooms
HEA - Milk
HEB - Almonds
Syns - Sugar in coffee (2*), Options hot chocolate (2) = 4
*There's no milk left at work so that'll limit my coffee (and sugar!) intake for the day, I'll be having peppermint tea instead!
WI tomorrow so trying to keep it nice and light today. Have a good one everyone!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Great to see the losses coming in.:D Well done majorica, denise and gtq.:T:T:T
Thanks for the recipe feedback denise. Funnily enough I was going to ask exactly the same about mustard powder tete. I thought I might try it for my pork steaks. So a bit like HB steaks but with pork and perhaps more mustard.
I'm trying to ring the changes too although the SW chicken curry wasn't very successful:(. Tonight we're having jambalaya and the only difference to preSW days is that I'll use Frylight and if I follow the recipe and slice some frankfurter/garlic sausage in alongside the chicken I'll serve that to DH.;)
Meal plan and shop later. I'm trying to eat out of the freezer as much as possible too so most of my list is fresh stuff.:)
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), fried egg (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
L: probably more lentil and veg soup (P,S) unless I shop firstchicken jambalaya (P,S,F)
Syns: weekend wine:)0 -
Ooh you've reminded me of the 2CC chicken and chorizo jambalaya which I love and which makes an excellent packed lunch. Might make a batch of that this weekend, I only need a pepper and some chorizo.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Re the mustard in the mustard beef & mushrooms, it would probably work with mustard powder however I really like grainy mustard so am happy to syn it - after all it only works out at 1 syn per portion even with the extra Tbs of mustard but if I was very short on Syns I might be tempted to change it to powder.
I always buy a large piece of chorizo and then chop it and wrap in 25g packs in clingfilm and then store in a small freezer bag. Doesn't take long to defrost and I know exactly how many syns each pack is (3.5) and you really don't need much to get the flavour especially if you also add some smoked paprika as well.

Pleased to report a -1.5LBS still a bit to go to get back into range but at least it’s a start.
Still suffering from the lurgy and have developed a hacking cough so I’m not feeling much like anything.
Leftovers from the freezer tonight, alldifferent but all low syn so I don’t mind what I get left with.
Will pop that mustard beef dish on my menu next week. It sounds lovely.0 -
Hi Beanie - A snowball melon is a much paler skinned melon with a much sweeter taste than any of the other melons. They tend to be bigger than the other melons too, apart from watermelon which I know can be huge although you don't see the very big ones often here but you certainly do in hotter countries like Goa and Gambia! They're only available for a couple of months of the year not like the others which seem to be around most of the year.
Denise
Thank you

I got my Snowball melon from Mr Ts. I picked the biggest one as they were selling them as "each" and not weight, done the same with my cabbage too:D:money:
Well done MM. How much more do you need to lose to get back into target range? I'm sure you'll get there soon.
