After feeling ropey and basically unwell , over the last few weeks I have received some fantastic news this morning . I have received a letter from DWP regarding my PIP assessment 13 days ago . Bear in mind 🐻 I understood that I shouldn't expect to hear anything for anything up to 8 weeks and expect to be unsuccessful .
The letter was the first really personal letter from the DWP actually by a proper assesssor so to speak . Anyhow , I managed to score 12 points and am awarded the standard rate of £59.70 a week to help with my daily living needs from 10 June 2020- 17 September 2024.
I didn't qualify for mobility needs. The bizarre thing upon opening the letter( and almost jumping for joy), is the first page tells me how much I will get etc
Then looking more closely , looking at the decision summary, I'm surprised I got awarded anything at all. Now , regarding payments : Yesterday they paid £904.03 into my account
This is money that they owe me from 10 June - 23 sept 2020.
The payments I receive in future will be every 4 weeks in arrears on a Thursday .
I suppose the Limited Capability for work May have contributed to their decision, who knows?

Other stufff : woke up around 12.30 am . Then at 4 am . Unwell
managed to force myself to do exercise earlier,🏋️ and now have to go for a walk in the sunshine☀️ before rain in the evening .💦
    I'll leave it there ..
Enjoy the sunshine for now ..🌦
AC, you should now check as a matter of urgency whether this award now entitles you to access other benefits you don't currently get, and whether any you do get can be paid at an enhanced rate now you have the PIP award. Good luck👴.

    Thanks harz 😸
Tbh, I very much doubt if I will , but I will look into it as you say
My personal opinion is that Covid did me a favour , by having assessment over the phone.
Same with tribunal decision regarding my LCW appeal . I could be wrong of course 😼
The decision to pay towards my service charges on my home was massive for me.
Not getting any payment for LCW was a bit of a blow , but the award means that I shouldn't be hounded into accepting any old job regarding employment and my disability has to be considered by job coaches etc .
The worries I have in the future regarding my life on universal credit , is that I potentially have another LCW assessment next year and periodically there after. The pip assessment will be after 23 sept 2023 ,and periodically thereafter I would imagine , so I cannot be complacent .
There is advice about other benefits on the pip form that I may be entitled to .
My approach , is to politely do everything that is required ( above and beyond if possible )and hope to manage the best I can .
    I'll leave it there ..

You must be so pleased for the additional payments, the back payments and now your service charges are being covered! Great news for you. :)
    Have a lovely weekend.

  • Thanks everyone 😼
Harz, thanks for the link also 😸Something for me to consider and look into .
Well , I just received a letter from stour valley and Poole partnership regarding my council tax..
    They are pleased to advise me that a council tax support discretionary payment award has been credited to my council tax account . This award replaces any previously notified council tax support discretionary payment award. The award is as follows ;
    from 1st April 2020 to 2nd April 2020 an amount of £43.53.
This is to give me further financial assistance during the Covid -19 pandemic .
A revised council tax bill will be issued showing the updated balance.
I still have the cheque that they sent me a few weeks ago, which I have yet to pay in to my bank . Hopefully when I meet my friend next week , I can pay it in as I'm still cautious regarding 2nd wave of Covid etc🤚
I'm delighted of course , and  obviously confused . I do the cat protection lottery 😼and the postcode lottery , plus the planet rock competition on occasion .
now if one of those notified me ...😸.  Well, 2's and 3's 😸
    I'll leave it there..
    Anyway enjoy the weekend 💦💦

Congrats on getting Pip! And the back payment is a nice lump sum too. I got quite a bit of back payment on mine, because when I got the forms through, I looked at them and gave up, but a few months later, I was put in touch with a benefits advisor, who put the claim in for me. As they took the start of the claim from when I'd originally phoned up for the forms, rather than when the advisor put the claim in, and I'd been awarded full care and mobility, it came to a nice tidy sum, and we had our first holiday (down in Swanage) since our honeymoon! As I'm terminal, we've had one or two holidays each year since, as we never know if it will be the last chance.

Your lump sum gives you a nice buffer, and the weekly payment will always help. I'm so glad you persevered with it.
    Have a good weekend AC.

    Hi Gigervamp 😼
It's good to see that you got the help from your advisor. I remember you recommending one to me some time ago. Great to see you making the most of it too .
TBH , I expected refusal and I didn't think I'd appeal . It's strange the way things happen sometimes.
Now Harz has got me looking into things 😸.
Anyway hope you have a good weekend ..
