Keeping calm is probably all we can do at the moment, but I tend to be like that anyway and often prefer my own company.  You're right - you have come a long way from when you first posted, and I'm sure that same determination will see you through the next few months safely.  Sympathies on DWP issues - I remember when eldest and her partner were going through it but they are settled now.  Not sure if they will be officially classed as vulnerable as although both have physical and mental problems they do manage on their own mostly.  Trouble is they do rely on online deliveries and can't book one at the moment - hence me going out and trying to get some stuff for them, but eldest has emailed me today to say they are ok for the time being so I shall put things to one side for them.  I'm happy there is an extension for car MOT as mine runs out in April and although happy to park it up I do want it for emergencies if eldest is in need.  Where they live is not quite within walking distance for me, or on a bus route (if I wanted to risk it) so feeling a bit relieved.  Nil desperandum and all that.  Best wishes.

Do you just get the basic amount of UC?  Any premiums?

Its true you have come along way AC and UC seems to work for you too. Long may it continue and at the least you got the boiler! It's surreal on the streets. I also went out after a few days in and it was more deserted and in the shops people kept a good distance too. Onwards and upwards :)

  • Thanks folks .
I got a swift reply from both the DWP in Cardiff via email, and my universal job coach .
I will be contacted by DWP, to see if I fit the criteria for a phone interview and the decision made on that . I don't like the sound of that tbh . The job coach apologised about the decision regarding my service charges as it's out of his control ,and has been forwarded to the decision makers so it's not a blunt "no!"  I thanked him for swift response and updated him about the possible telephone interview .   I think the most positive thing about my universal credit situation ( did I really say that?) , is the fact that I'm up to speed with it all and feel sorry for those who just don't understand it and have just been dumped there in this present situation . No Beanielou, I get nothing else just £317 pm ( raising to £400 for a ltd time then reduced t what ever it is)

  • Thanks Beanielou.😼
so, neighbours upstairs decided to have a party till about 2am . Only the second one since they moved in . The last being Christmas Eve . Hopefully , that's it for sometime .
Yesterday, I tried to renew my home contents insurance with Admiral. Reason being , because of the current situation it seemed the most straightforward thing to do .
However, online I could not change my card details . Tried phoning and live chat but they are obviously swamped. This morning I got through , which took about 28 mins on the phone listening to tropical music that had me thinking I was lying on a beach in Trinidad and Tobago . Still it's done for another year and in reality other than council tax and service charges etc , this is the most important bill to pay .
I made 2 phone calls to family members . One to my sister who works in M&S in London Bridge . She says things have quietened down a lot and that it's mainly drs & medical staff as customers so not too bad . Spoke to my eccentric brother, which was hard work but he's in fairly good form .
I have to tidy around and eventually wire up all the equipment in the gas room , when I feel on the right frame of mind . I will have to get my paperwork sorted out incase I get a phone interview for my claim for LCW .
  • Yesterday , I did nothing . The neighbours above were their usual quiet selves so hooping that was a one off .
This morning , more enthused . I have more or less finished putting all my stuff back into the gas room . However, when the old boiler was removed , there is a fair size hole on the floor by the skirting board and window. As a stop gap measure, I took a piece of wood from the cupboard I smashed up and put it there for now. I am thinking of putting my sideboard on top until I find a solution . I think I'll be using the room again today ..

I hope a day doing nothing refreshed you :)

  • Thanks J wil it did 😼
Yesterday , was another do nothing day. Well, not so much as I more or less sorted out the gas room . I managed to get everything in there , but it looks a lot different . I'm still pondering . The hole in the floor, is on my mind , and I'm thinking of solutions . I may ask james his opinion and see what gives. Nothing can really be done for the moment for obvious reasons .
I had a visit from the electrician who checked everything and gave me a certificate .I forgot about him ,as another chap from the installation company was here the day before . Apart from smelling of garlic , he was a nice chap who did a thorough check of the electrics .
I received a call from the tribunal people and of course my appointment for LCW is postponed . I asked if it's a face to face appointment . " Yes, that's what you said you wanted." Normally I'd politely question it, but I just said nothing . The confirmation arrived today in the post .
Woke up at around 2.30am. I put the radio on to get me to sleep again , but it was a broken sleep and I should've used the timer .
Just been to the local Sainsbury's . Still a bit eerie . A car pulled up at the traffic lights and I heard a woman's voice say something . I ignored , then heard it again . It was my next door neighbours . I could only say hello, as I had to do a left turn , plus they were at the traffic lights . I I got most of the food I wanted . I noticed my belly getting bigger , so no more crisps ! I do need to get some eggs and milk at some point tho..

I'm with you with the crisps, also trying to cut them out but they taste so good!
Also looking for eggs again. The only eggs I see are chocolate eggs :)

Hope your day is going well.
