I know, it's a flipping crazy amount for what was done. If my brushing is that good, then I'm not going to bother again. The only saving grace is last time I went, it was quite painful and my teeth were sensitive for months after. This one was much better.beanielou said:50 quid!!!
Hope things settle down for DH soon
Thank you.
I hope so too. Supposedly they are expecting to be closed for 2 weeks to a month. There's no support from the Govt, and yet their dithering and lack of certainty is causing most of the issue! I get that they need to wait for data, but why can't they just have a plan, 'if this happens, then this will happen' etc. Give people time to prepare and plan. The devolved nations have all managed it!WinterWarrior said:I hope DH’s work comes back strongly in the new year ☹️"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Happy Christmas eve everyone! The kids are very excited.
DH is worrying about what to do. If he's off for a few weeks, he'll sign up and try and get some agency work, but we don't know how long he'll be off for. Hopefully he'll be able to put it aside for the next few days, we can't change anything until next week anyway.
I just need to sort out the food stuff, make sure we've got everything. I've got to finish wrapping the last of the gifts (so much for being organised!) and will prep the veg etc for tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄🎄"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4 -
Does he have a contract @jwil? Can they legally just stop his work and pay for a number of weeks? It might be worth checking with a union or citizens advice. They should be ashamed of themselves leaving a family in the lurch like that. Even a token amount would go a long way.

We'll see what happens next week. At the moment, it's just one day, but if it does turn out to be longer then we'll look into it. It's only a small company and they supply the hospitality industry so there's just no demand at the moment. It will be easier when there's some clarity. I'm thinking that they are generally a good company and treat their staff well, but DH always looks on the gloomier side.WinterWarrior said:Does he have a contract @jwil? That's a tough break this time of year especially. Hope DH's work recovers quickly.

I've had a burst of energy this morning, and given the kitchen and bathroom a good clean. I've sorted out all the gifts for family, and managed to sneakily wrap a few for the kids while they were in the bath.
I'm really struggling to understand why the fridge is so empty. It's normally jam packed. I think we have everything, so maybe I've just bought smaller portions this year. It's driving me crazy! The only thing we haven't bought is different cheeses. I'm sure we'll survive. I've got all the Christmas goodies out too, so we can start tackling them

I bought less this year as there are less people to feed and the kids are due to eat at others 3 days of the period... Just think a lot of food gets wasted at Xmas - hopefully that won't happen now for you. I also decided that since most of us want a healthy eating kick after xmas not to go too mad on treat food.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

You're right about food waste. We don't tend to waste it as we use up all the leftovers. I guess we just won't have as many leftovers this year. We haven't gone mad on treats either. Still enough though!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4

Sorry to hear about OH's job hopefully it results itself soon. I've always kept a Christmas book and write my shopping list in it. Then after Christmas I'd write all the things we didn't open/eat so I'd know it was a waste buying. I like lists and notebooks
Hope you and your family and your readers have a hapoy Christmas and let's hope 2022 is a good one x5
