Sounds like a good plan for the bottom of the garden. When it’s clear you could scatter some seed mixes which would give you a low maintenance, wildlife friendly section😁.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Evening all
Struggled a bit today - I've got a headache nagging and I cannot seem to shift it. Had planned for a quiet day just pottering but it didn't turn out like that. Up early again, then asleep on the sofa for another couple of hours - school work, quick trip out to pick up my click and collect from a DIY shop for dd's room! Then my stepdad came over and replaced dd's light fitting for me, while my mam judged my house and garden and confirmed that I should indeed get a skip for all the rubbish I've got. Then went to meet a teacher friend for a 1 hour walk before my afternoon meeting. And at my meeting I discovered that my microphone is no longer working on my laptop. NT2 pushed it off the table a while ago - I thought I'd gotten away with it but obviously not. So I spent ages faffing with that but have had to resort to a headset (I feel like ds when I have a headset on) so I could speak in the meeting.
While I was in my meeting dd was doing coat 2 of the paintwork in her room, and then I went up to help her get coat 1 on two of the walls.
Then drove out to MaccyD to pick up dinner for the kids because ds had asked for it as a reward for his excellent report. As they haven't had it in 4 months I agreed, but I did not have anything. Oh no - I am dieting hard.
After that we managed to get coat 2 on the same 2 walls and I realised that we're going to run out of paint so have ordered another tin. It has been a struggle to get ds to get anywhere close to doing anything - even though his room is the most desperate for tidying, decorating, and he's getting a new bed soon. If only I could get a metaphorical firework up his backside to get him to do something. I predict the loss of the exbox lead tomorrow at this rate.
Got in the shower just before 8 and was out in time to watch one of my favourite singers on his patreon site - we talked about favourite films from the 80s today and got all nostalgic, and now I want to watch The Lost Boys, Ferris Bueller and Back to the Future again. Love an 80s film.
Right - I'm going to treat myself to a couple of paracetamol now and an early night I think. Not giving up

I have The Lost Boys on DVD, and am planning on laughing my way through Highlander at some point soon. Need to watch and reject a pile of DVDs. But nobody is touching my Farscape, Firefly, or Battlestar Galactica collections.Your house maintenance skills sound amazing. Well done you, and you are teaching DD essential life skills. You strong female role model, you.Can I sense a healthy dose of skip envy coming my way in the near future?4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

De-lurking just to say I'm jealous of the decorating/room refreshing over the past week or so! It's something I need to start thinking about but not until the debt is gone. Also jealous of f0xh0les' new washing machine - by the look of mine, it's been in the flat since it was built nearly 30 years ago so maybe due to be replaced!10

Hello!
Well, I had a 6am start today for the first time in goodness knows how long. It was because I had an early z00m meeting and then had to get straight out of the house to take ds to school for his leaver's assembly this morning. Therefore I had to get up at 6 to make sure I was 1. Awake 2. Had done my hair 3. Got dressed 4. Had fed the cats 5. Made a massive cup of tea 6. Woken ds - all before my 7.45 meeting.
7.45 meeting badly overran and I had to leave the meeting (with my stupid headset) at 8.45 in order to get ds to his last EVER time at primary school. Got there with literally 1 minute to spare and he went straight off for his class assembly. I was taking him there for 9.10 and was told to pick him up at 10. So I sat in the car in the car park and did some work that I'd brought with me (how well prepared). I could hear them all in the playground, singing and clapping and cheering - then at 10 his teacher brought him out to me to take him home. He seemed fine but I was just about heartbroken - I can't decide if it's the realisation that my youngest baby is all grown up now, or if I was sad about how much he's missed out on the past four months not being in school, and that he's lost the chance to have the fun that end of primary school brings. Anyway, he sat and looked through his gifts, and the class 'photo' which is a load of Bitmojiswhile I drove home with tears running down my face.
Home again by half past ten. I was desperate for the loo after my massive cup of tea, then got on with carrying 4 binbags full of rubbish downstairs from ds room while he got on with more tidying. Then I finished the work that I'd started in the car and got the report done that I had to do. All before dd was awake.
I've been in her room now, and the good news is that 2 coats of paint on her walls is enough. It's looking as though we may get finished in there tomorrow. The gloss paint is the biggest disaster ever - 3 coats and still needing more but I have no idea why, but the ceiling and half of the walls are done and finished. Happy days. I'm in bits that it's after 2pm and we haven't started in there today, but I can't get a rocket up her either. What is wrong with kids and mornings? At this rate I'm going to be asleep on the sofa while dd finishes her lunch then nothing will get done today.
Just deciding what to paint next. Stairs or ds room... suppose it will depend on how quickly ds finishes clearing his tip.
Thank you for your kind words f0xh0les. I try to be a positive role model for my kids, and my mother always encouraged me never to rely on a man for anything, so I'm quite independent too. I feel lazy but people tell me I'm always on the go and always doing things. I will give most things a go, but I don't rely on myself to be able to do things well. For example - dd has a loose and noisy floorboard and I have no idea what to do with it. Might have a google now
