Morning
Well, I have a very alert brain and a body that is struggling to respond. I also have a very close to complete living roomafter endless days of cleaning and painting. There is only one tiny alcove left to decorate, and it's the alcove where my tv and boxes live so a bit of a hassle but I am nothing if not determined to get it done. DD had done loads while I was at work on Wednesday, so by the end of the day I felt as though there was a bit of an end in sight with the living room. I hate painting ceilings though - there is no joy in that whatsoever. Even seeing the clean and fresh ceiling...
Was up and about early yesterday as expecting an engineer from Bee Tee. My house phone is so infrequently used that it hasn't been working since April and I hadn't done anything about it. I thought it was the phone itself so bought a new, very cheap phone, plugged it in and it still didn't work. Turns out it was a dodgy socket (which was only fitted in February so if they even think about charging me £85 for faulty equipment in my home I will go ballistic) which he replaced. Anyway - sofa was pulled out for him to work on socket (and all freshly decorated around him), when NT2 jumped onto sofa and walked over BeeTee engineer's back to get to the windowsill and sat there just judging him. I was beyond mortified - however thankfully he seemed to love her. As soon as he had gone I got on with further painting and that's how I spent the entirety of the day basically. Thinking I was almost done then finding another million things to be done.
Apart from the fact that the living room is more liveable now I was also most pleasantly surprised to get on the scales yesterday and see I had lost 8lbs. Which made me wonder why my clothes are not falling off. I should be able to notice that surely? Anyway, it was further motivation to stick with the diet and also keep going with the decorating. Happy days. I hope I can lose enough weight to notice before I am back at school next term. That would be lovely. However, I always get to thinking that and then start eating chocolate and chips again so I won't hold my breath. I will just celebrate that it's ok at the moment.
Right, I've sat for long enough - time for me to be getting on with something before my legs and back seize in this position. Not giving up

Oh, and I am not on the rota again this term to be in at work. So I have 6 days of working from home and then it's summer.
DS school report arrived in the post yesterday and it was so wonderful. I had a few tears at the thought of my baby leaving primary school on such a flat note and everything he's missed out on the past few months. And probably because I'm so proud of him.Not giving up

Well done DS!! You did a good job there CCL.I think cats assume that if a man bows down to them, they are allowed to walk all over them. I mean, you sit down and they think you did it to provide a lap for them. Maybe you need a 'Warning: contains Cats' sign.So glad you are seeing progress with the decorating, and well done on the half stone weightloss!!! Waaahhhh!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Great weight loss, CCL. Somebody once told me that she found 1 & a half stone off equalled a dress size. That wasn't true for me as I needed to lose more at the beginning, but after that, I'd say around every half a stone is noticeable in my clothes. What always surprises me is how I sort of bloat up from a spell of unhealthy eating. It was really noticeable recently. I wore a linen tunic on Sunday & it felt tight around my middle. Resumed weight loss campaign on Mon. By Tues, that same tunic was hanging much more loosely. I can't have lost any fat in two days, so it just shows how much water us women hold onto when eating processed carbs & more specifically, sugar. Am feeling quite motivated atm & your success has just topped up my motivation levels a bit more.

Shame! Shame!
The alcove is not painted. I did nothing. Zero. No decorating today. I just couldn't get going. I fell asleep on the sofa after being on here this morning and woke up with my sister knocking on the door wanting to collect something to take to our dad's house. I then spent much of the next few hours having an internal argument between the b i t c h me and the me that everyone else usually gets - went a bit like this:
'Jeez you are such a lazy b i t c h. Look at you sitting there in your nightie at 11am doing nothing and lying down again'
'You have worked really hard the past few days. There's nothing spoiling so if you need a day off then have a day off by all means. Just rest. You can do it tomorrow, or the next day. There's no hurry'
'You know fine well if you don't get off your fat !!!!!! and do it today then it's not going to get done. You will sit all day, be incredibly lazy and get fatter, and all that hard work will be for nothing, because it's not finished and you'll be eating that weightloss back on'
'It is a little job and will take no more than a couple of hours at most. Who is going to see it? Who is going to judge you for not having that finished today? What about looking after yourself? You obviously need a bit of a rest so just take the day off and you'll probably feel better tomorrow. Do some crochet - you haven't done any for days.'
'Yes. Sit on your fat backside watching Bargain Hunt and using precisely zero calories. Might as well order a takeaway or get some cake on the go'
You get the picture. I have started using the excuse of my mattress being really old and uncomfortable as to why I don't feel rested in the morning but it's probably not a million miles from the truth. That one was cheap when I got it and is now 9 years old so needs replacing. I wasted another hour researching different types of mattress and having an internal argument of whether to go for something as cheap as possible or invest in something I'm going to use every single day.
I don't think I mentioned, but me and the kids are taking part in some research for the ONS. I think we were picked at random after I filled in a little survey for them. It basically involves us doing a COVID test once a week for 4 weeks, and then once a month for the next 12 months - they're researching to see how many of the population get the virus whilst being asymptomatic. I was interested when the letter arrived (my science brain was keen to be involved), and when I showed the kids the stuff they were both keen too. Turns out we get vouchers for participating - I thought one between the three of us, but apparently it's one each and one each visit so quite a bit more than I was expecting. I told the kids that they can keep their own vouchers as long as they don't waste them on things like takeaway and stuff for exbox. DD has decided that she wants to buy some new shelves and bits for her new bedroom, and some clothes. DS wants a new bed (and he will get enough vouchers to get it). I will use mine to get a new bed as well I think. Not bad for shoving a cotton bud down your throat and up your nose (in that order) once a week then once a month. We had our first visit last night so it's all underway now - fingers crossed that we all stay happy and healthy in the meantime.
Thank you for the wishes about the weightloss. Pleased to report that I've stuck with it today in spite of feeling so tired and down on myself. So another tick there.
It was after lunch by the time I dragged myself to get dressed. We needed bread rolls and milk. So dd and I went to Foods of the Frozen Farm to get the essentials (milk for me, ketchup for ds, mushy peas for dd) along with another couple of bits. Very busy indeed today. I was pleased to get in, get out and get home. Then I forced myself to wash the dishes and put a load of bedding on to wash and watched an episode of Prison Break with dd, then cleaned the bathroom and hoovered upstairs, then another episode of Prison Break followed by putting 2 boxes of DVD's in the loft and taking 2 bags of rubbish out and sorting through them. Followed by another episode of Prison Break and putting the rubbish and recycling out. That was as much as I could get to doing today, and my body is still aching all over and the internal argument is still going on.
I want to say I'll paint the alcove tomorrow. But I have arranged for coffee at bestie's house with her - I've not seen her in over a month so we need to catch up a bit. I know that won't be all day, but I hope I wake up in the morning feeling more like doing stuff. If I'm back to my usual self I'll have the first coat done before we go out then can do the second coat once we're back. Then it'll be on with dd's room. Best get to bed and hopefully wake up feeling more like my usual self in the morning - I have prattled on a bit haven't I? Sorry about that.
