Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

The brain is a funny old thing isn't it? Knows exactly how to press your buttons.Number 1, as designated 'house adult' you decide when you do the decorating, and if it isn't today, then schedule it in for another day. There is nothing wrong with taking a day off and sitting in your pjs if you want to. If you don't want to, then don't. I mean, you didn't have the vicar coming round, it was your sister! You weren't in latex and stiletto heels on your way out to the local golf course. You decided you would do it the next day, it got done. Let it go.Number 2. Your brain has realised you are losing weight and it is hardwired to eat calories in case there is a sudden ice age and nothing will grow but Kale. It is in its own best interest to get you to eat.Number 3. Apart from that we are all in a slightly heightened state of anxiety and not sleeping too well, I know I am not, my dh had to take himself off to bed for 2 hours in the middle of the day because he just couldn't go on any more (he did not invite me to join him, harumph!) Nobody is doing as much as they normally do so we are not as tired as normal, or are tired at daft times. Doing nothing is flippin' stressful! Definitely start a mattress fund. I need a mattress fund too. Mine is 12 years old. I am waiting for the really good c/s furniture place to reopen so I can get a bedframe on the cheap (sub £50) and then I can pay out more for a decent mattress. These are the things we need to invest in, cos we use them every single day (or night). They are the important things. We should love these things. So, I hope you are cheerier this morning, the sun is shining, the paint is painty, have a lovely time with bestie.I just bought a washing machine.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Happy new washing machine f0xh0les. I have washing machine envy.
Not of one that is going to nag me via text though...
I haven't seen or done anything on Gr0up0n but ALL of my tailored ads on Fakeb00k today are about beds. I find the tailored advertising very scary indeed - like something is reading my mind.
I did open the second tin of paint - decided that I will make use of the rest of it in my own bedroom if I ever get round to painting in there. And the living room is officially finished and everything back where it should be. Next stop dd's room - she wants to start asap - but we'll see how true that is in the morning
Spent the afternoon catching up with bestie - long overdue and very much enjoyed. Feeling much more like my normal self - just a bit more achey than usual, but I must still be mad calorie burning with all of this cleaning, painting and moving stuff about. Not giving up

It is amazing, but when your hands are covered in paint, it tends to stop you snacking. Mad innit?Glad you and bestie had a good catch up. It seemed like a nice day outside (if you like the giant glowing ball of radiation set to kill us all). Good luck with DD's room - do you think DS will just want to paint his next?

Hey cat. I have a week off the forums and woah! You loose over half a stone, paint your lounge, do your last day in school for the term, Research mattresses, sort out B T box (that the sort of thing my cat would do 😂). All amazing progress. Well done you.Don’t worry about about days when you ‘don’t do anything’ as a) everyone is entitled to a rest, please don’t feel guilty about it and b) if you read your post back, you haven’t actually done ‘nothing’ you’ve still done loads of household jobs across the day.Get a new mattress. Worth the investment. Would recommend going and ‘trying’ some even if you buy online. As they vary. Also treat yourself to a mattress topper, got ours from amaz0n. Made a massive difference. Maybe do that in short term as it can be used on any mattress (assuming you’re not changing the size)13

Fantastic work on the painting CCL. I washed some walls down yesterday in prep for painting and had forgotten what a workout it can be!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Woke up far too early this morning and decided to come down to the more comfy sofa for an immediate nap. Managed another 2 hours, and then woke up thinking I was going to have another one of 'those' days where I couldn't get going. Teeny black cat soon put paid to that idea though by presenting me with a live bird which then proceeded to flap about the house trying to escape while teeny black lady chased it for fun and I chased them both trying to help the bird and distract the cat. I caught the bird and took it outside and it flew out of my hands and over the fence so hopefully no lasting damage (other than the massive trauma of being repeatedly hunted by the teeny black lady).
So I was up! Decided to start work on an exam paper I've been meaning to do but been too busy for - then when my brain was finished with that I put my box set on and found the mistake in my crochet and fixed it and did an hour of crochet. Kids got up literally half an hour before we were due at my mam's for lunch (we're allowed in the house now as long as we socially distance) and off we went for Sunday Roast and time with granny for the first time in weeks and weeks.
After we got home I wanted to put my feet up and relax with more exam paper and more crochet, but dd had decided that operation 'paint my room' had to start immediately. We did 3 hours in there, which was the cleaning and prepping and she did the doors and skirtings while I did the ceiling. I really hope that doesn't need another coat tomorrow but the woodwork definitely will... it's very patchy (not dd's work, just eons since it was last done). DD also discussed her plans for the room with me, and what furniture she's keeping, what she's getting rid of and what she's replacing it with. It's nice to see her so excited about something for the first time in a while.
And you're right f0xh0les - ds has already staked his claim for the next room on the list. New decorating to go with the new bed... I've told him I will help but he needs to clear it himself. That means it won't be getting done I wouldn't have thought.
Then went into the garden to get the washing in and spent a bit of time looking at my overgrown rubbish dump at the bottom of the garden. I call it biodiverse but the truth is that it's just a tip, and the fence needs replacing down there as well. I'm not impressed. Then I was thinking that some people would be chuffed to have a whole garden the size of the bit at the bottom that I just ignore, and then I had AN IDEAI can hire a skip! Again! And instead of worrying about getting mattresses and long bits of old bed to the tip I can throw them in the skip. Plus the furniture that dd wants rid of (not good enough to pass on or sell), plus ds broken drawers, plus my awful bed, plus I can clear the garden! Then I can get someone in to replace the fence (on condition that they flatten the old one into the bottom neighbour's garden - I hate him). I could even hire a sledgehammer and get real pleasure from smashing up my old shed and getting rid of it. Obviously a skip costs money but it was money well spent last time I did it and I suspect money well spent again if I go again this year... Just need to wait for my goodwill exam board payment to do that. Hopefully before I lose the cleaning, decorating and sorting stuff out mojo altogether.
