Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

And hello Muriel and welcome back to my now-divorced ramblings. I'm more skint than I've ever known but happier too.
Bet everyone reading this now understands why I hate men so much - the nasties seem to gravitate around me and my family. When my nephew went out with dd last night, I waited outside so I could see him for myself. I asked how he was and he said fine and dd just said 'Welcome to the s h I t dad club' - really deadpan and never a truer word spoken.

That is so sad CCLNot excusing his behaviour at all, but as a nurse might he be suffering from some kind of MH disorder due to the covid stress? Having said that, there is no excuse, ever, for assaulting a child. If I were your sister I wouldn't be allowing him to have the children again - though at that age, they do of course get a choice. Hopefully they will use it wisely, for now anyway.13

CCL the chillis will be happy on a sunny window sill indoors. You can do it!Just think, you could be making Nigella's chilli jam for Xmas from your own chillis - as a gift. I think that is at least a bonus 200 points on anyone's scale. But I now have an image of you and the cats in matching dungarees and wellies out in the garden with a fork.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Well. I have officially crossed over to the dark side. Today I went to...
.

.
a garden centreI feel so weird about that! DD was laughing at me trying to push this ridiculously sized plastic trolley around narrow little aisles. I felt like I was pushing one of those trolleys that have a plastic car attached to the front that a toddler can go in and pretend to drive. She said I had never looked so uncomfortable in my life - which is saying something as she is almost 16 now. I'm not going to lie, I found it traumatic. I don't know what the difference is between a grow bag and a bag of compost. And did you know that there are well over a hundred thousand species of compost? Some with seaweed, some for seeds, some for teeny plants, some for adult plants. DD reckoned it was the equivalent of shopping for cat food, with kitten, adult and senior, and different brands. !!!!!!? How is a novice supposed to know what to do??? And why are there so many different types of rock and bark? What is the point? I bought the following items - 3 grow bags, a bag of 'all purpose' compost, 2 large plastic pots and saucers, a box of 'all purpose' plant food, a watering can (?!?!?!?!) and 3 for £5 plants - 2 tomatoes and a courgette as recommended by foxgloves. I hope that the garden centre experience will become less traumatic the more that I do it and eventually I will be comfortable being a woman that easily grows her own organic fruit and vegetables
Didn't get much work done - it has rained all day, and couple that with an awful night of sleep and the post traumatic stress of a garden centre visit (the large bags are still in the boot of the car until I can tackle getting them out) it was hard to get much done - however I did two meetings and some online work preparation. No hope of any of our students back until at least the 15th and then we're only offering 2 hours a week per y10 student. There's SO much to do in terms of risk assessment and modifications to the building.
On top of that, I think that my bathroom sink is sinking. The soap keeps sliding off and into the sink, and I felt the floor and it felt wet and mushy. That makes me want to cry. I've tightened up all of the pipework, but it may be time to admit defeat and get repairs done properly - I've already had a hole in the floor patched up underneath the bath. But where do you start with that? And it's going to cost thousands AND I just painted the bathroom and put a new floor down.
I think that I will conclude that today has been awkward. However, I am pleased that it is a bit cooler now - hopefully I'll sleep better tonight now.

did your cleaner not replace the sink when she broke it.. its possibly something hanging over from that work & that will be the excuse you should stick to- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

You're right trix a belle - the sink was replaced by my cleaner's husband very recently. However, she hasn't been here since lockdown started, and dd and I reckon that we might (only might) be able to manage without her. The house seems to be less of a tip since ex went, but it is nice to get home and have the house cleaned from someone else's efforts that aren't mine. Suppose I'll just see what happens... hopefully it won't be the bathroom sink arriving in the outhouse underneath the bathroom

so it is quite possible that this new problem may be from his 'fix'. have a look to see if the sink to wall fixings are tight & the connections to the tap(s) as they are all the ones that are awkward to get to and he might have been a bit lax with. you can do this, you can always put some toilet paper around joints and then check back periodically to see if they are getting wet to try and find where the moisture is coming from as its more likely to be coming top down than bottom up.
i'm glad to hear you feel you are coping ok without her coming as I remember you struggling with the idea of it at the beginning, it just shows your mind is clearing & seeing its not such a big job as it isn't now the big lump is out- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Well done CCL on venturing forth to the garden centre. That’s the only place I like shopping😂. I agree the compost range can seem overwhelming at first but a good multi purpose is sufficient for many purposes. Happy planting!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Don`t panic about the expense as it may not be as bad as you imagine but I think you`` re right in getting a recommended plumber in to assess the problem. I do hope so. x12
