Have you ever had just 'one of those days'? Well that has been me today. I broke my rule of not going back to sleep at 5.20 because I was shattered, and it was after 8 when I finally moved - and I thought it was Sunday. Then I panicked and thought I was meant to be in work, but that's tomorrow. So I got downstairs and logged on ready to start work. Didn't notice that my charger wasn't charging the laptop until it went into emergency hibernation. Thought charger had become unplugged but it actually doesn't seem to be working any more. I have a work laptop at home but it won't run Z00m and it's harder to share 1 laptop between 3 than 2 between 3 - and all of my work is on my home laptop rather than my school laptop. Spent ages on my phone looking for a new charger that I could get today, which is difficult when PC shops aren't open. Eventually found a 'universal charger' at Arg0s - 8 fittings, fits all laptops up to 17" screen. Coughed up £50 of nectar points to pay for it and waited until alloted 2pm collection time. Had to z00m on my phone so was extra wobbly and looked extra lazy as I wasn't raring to go on my machine. Took dd with me as she likes to get out of the house and into the car and we went to Arg0s at Mr S. While there I also had to spend on hay fever medication. I've never, ever known my hay fever to be this bad. My eyes are sore all of the time and I cough when I breathe in, and the stuff I have at home seems to do little to nothing. So I asked the pharmacist and have eye drops for the first time ever, plus medication that 'may make me drowsy'. Didn't have the juice that dd wanted so we popped over to freezer shop a couple of miles away and bought loads there.
Got home, took meds, raring to go with work and NONE of the 8 universal-fits-any-laptop plugs fit my s0dding laptop. They are ALL too fat. I felt like crying, but the kids were done with my work laptop so I could at least get on there. Logged in. Started work. Fell asleep with my face in the laptop, but hayfever symptoms have calmed right down for the moment.
It's 8pm, I've done less than an hour of school work today, I haven't been for a walk yet, I'm shattered and I feel quite peeved with life in general. Ugh man, ugh.Not giving up

Also, my sister got a call at 3am today from the police. Her eldest two kids (17 and 15) had been staying with their dad, and apparently he'd gotten rolling drunk and started a verbal assault on his 17 year old daughter. So 15yo son stepped in to defend his sister and dad and son ended up in a physical fight. The neighbours called the police and got my sister to pick the kids up. My nephew is the same age as dd so she has taken him for a long walk this evening to see if he wants to talk. Poor lad has a black eye and choke marks round his neck. I might encourage my sister to ring the police back and report him. Drunk or not - it's assault. Poor kids - me and my sister have had rubbish taste in men over the years. Not giving up

Sorry to hear about your challenging day CCL, some days are just like that I think. Tomorrow will be better
I was here a couple of years ago, under a different user name though, and I used to comment on your diary. I see things have changed and you're now divorced. I really hope life is treating you well now (apart from today obviously).

so glad your niece and nephew are safe at your sisters now!
its a shame the replacement charger didn't work, make sure that goes back, it may be worth asking on fb marketplace or similar to see if anyone has a charger for your brand of laptop to get it back up & running, also there may be a computer person locally who could take a look at it and fix it.
re your hayfever, Nadine Baggot on Utube did a good video last year on products that help her hayfever (she gets it really! bad) & is going to do an updated one for this year soon so might be worth a watch to get some ideas.

Hello
Another busy day. I'm no longer used to getting up and drawing my eyebrows on any more and wasn't feeling the love this morning either. Got out for another walk with dd last night, but my dodgy ankle was very sore when I got home - straight in the shower and straight to bed for work this morning. Got up and dressed with time for a quick cuppa before work.
Work was a little busier and there were more kids in than I've seen for a while (I work at comp so we still just have keyworker kids at the minute) plus the other teacher that was in today got sent to hospital before 10am with a horribly swollen leg. She could barely walk. So it was just me and I was kept reasonably busy for the morning. Then spent time discussing risk assessment with the head before being fed and getting sent on my way at 1pm.
I'd already arranged to see my friend up there after work, for a socially distant coffee in her garden , and it was there waiting for me when I arrived. Lovely to see her and properly catch up. I haven't seen her for weeks and we normally do lunch and a natter at the beginning of every month. I was rather surprised when she gave me living things to look after. Bearing in mind my limited success and interest in anything of the garden variety - she gave me four little trays of teeny green plants - peppers, onions, cucumbers and lettuce. Oh. Dear. Me. I said I had literally no garden knowledge or kit and she told me all I need is pots and soil and everything will be fineShe clearly has never seen any of my previous attempts at growing my own living things. I'm incredibly lucky that my kids and cats have ended up being ok... Anyway. No joke, I have NOTHING garden related - not even a fork or a plant pot. So, after a bit of advice from our lovely foxgloves I'm going to have a go. I'm taking myself off to a garden centre either tomorrow or the day after and pretending I'm all knowledgeable about growing my own organic food and to buy some grow bags and soil and plant food and a watering can or bucket and maybe a mini plastic cover for the plants (I didn't ask you about that foxgloves). And I will feel like Felicity Kendall in the Good Life, but probably will not have anything green and alive by this time next week if I'm completely honest. But the plants were a gift and I need to try my best to make a go of it. And I would be so happy if I could grow my own cucumber because I really love cucumber...
Anyway. Got home and Mr Amaz0ng had done their thing and delivered my new laptop charger. And it fits, and it works! Ta da.I'd forgotten my friend's hubby works in IT and he gave me a link to what I needed in about 10 minutes - so easy when you know what you're doing (like gardening I would think). Thank goodness it was just the charger and not the laptop itself.
Caught up on work emails and did not-that-much school work. DD had a friend over for a socially distanced pizza in the garden and is feeling emotionally a lot better.
I've spoken to my sister - social services and the police are involved with the whole situation now. They visited my sister's house this afternoon and have started a child in need procedure. That could be quite serious for him if he doesn't engage. He is a nurse, and I suspect it will not be a positive career move in any way.
Right - time for a bit of crochet and a bit of a walk. Take care lovelies...
