I think if you're doing less than you usually would during the day then it makes it more difficult to sleep at night. I'm used to being out of the house from 7.30 until 5pm 5 days a week as well as house and mam stuff so even with the walking I'm just not doing as much as I was before lockdown, and therefore am not sleeping so well either. However, I am pleased to report that in spite of the fact that I had another atrocious night of sleep I woke up feeling a bit more like my old self this morning. I just felt more like me again - so am definitely blaming hormones for the past couple of days.
I got up, had my cuppa, put the rubbish and recycling out, sorted the cats, hung a load of washing on the line and even did a bit of crochet. Then decided it was lawn mowing time again - did mine and next door as I did last week which got me a little workout in. Finished my current book, made a couple of phone calls and then went for a walk with ds, and have now settled with the laptop for the night to do some more of my literacy course and catch up on here.
Just watching the news at the moment about lockdown being extended for 3 more weeks. I know it's not at all surprising, but I did have a few moments of desire for complete rebellion. Getting a haircut, getting my eyebrows done, eating food in a restaurant and going to visit my friends and family. Nothing really extravagant - and the reality of 3 more weeks of not getting my hair cut and not being able to see my family and friends is quite upsetting for me. Ah well.
I just had a little rant on f0xh0les diary about the whole reopening of schools thing and said I'd get it off my chest on here - so I will. Let me just say first of all that I have absolutely no issue at all with my job, or going to work. I love the job I do and I miss the kids and the people I work with desperately and am almost looking forward to getting back there when it happens. I do have more than a minor concern about being put into a working environment with over 1000 other people when there is no hope of social distancing ever happening. Because it won't - because kids don't care and we don't have the space or teaching numbers to do that anyway. And fair enough, the kids may not get sick, or very sick, but they can transmit disease beautifully. That's why little kids get the flu vaccination at school every year - it reduces the spread of it around the community. And 1000 kids coming into a close environment and mingling with each other may not harm them, but it might harm their families. Or my family. Or my kids might bring it home from their schools. And I don't know if having kids back in school will help in terms or reducing the spread of the virus. And would we all get PPE? But then saying all of that I know that there are kids not having a good experience at home, living with neglectful, abusive families, or in complete poverty where they don't get fed. Kids who have the escape of school for five days a week - who need to be in school. My own kids are missing their friends, and are getting a substandard education for me and I'm a teacher for goodness sakes. All those people who think that schools are just places for learning subjects are so wrong - they are much, much more than that in so many ways. It's just hard to think about giving these kids what they need and still keeping everyone safe and there isn't an easy solution to that at all. If I'm totally honest, at the moment I wouldn't want to expose myself to that environment and then come home to my kids every night because I wouldn't want to share that risk with them. Still, this is why I'm not in charge and I don't get paid the big bucks - I will just do as I'm told, and at the moment that means just staying home, protecting the nhs and saving lives (me? Brainwashed?)...
I'm actually bored at the thought of three more weeks of this, without being able to get hold of stuff that might help me to improve the house and garden (more paint and decorating stuff, weedkiller etc) - I wandered round Bee Emm the other day and noticed those shelves are not being replenished like the food and alcohol. Not that I should complain, I'm healthy, my kids are healthy and my family and friends are healthy this far. And I have a loft full of wool and a cupboard full of unread books to keep me entertained. I might actually have to try and do something with ds's hair though. Eeek!
Right, moaning and ranting over - time for me to get on and do something...

I've already told ds he's going to have to have a man bun and like it. I think I'm going to do pineapple bunches for myself - why have one when you can have two? Thanks for the idea f0xh0les.Not giving up

My dd has an Alice band thingy with 2 pineapple bunches on it, which I'm thinking of wearing to my first staff meeting online next week...

I think B&Q are back open and doing some deliveries and click and collect Cat, would that help to get some stuff for house projects? Also, Screwfix seem to be open as they are just click and collect anyway, and they are very cheap for basic paint, etc.
I’m in the same boat, loads more time, but can’t get out to collect any bits!11 -
Hello
I've lost track of time somewhat. Woke up this morning with a stinking headache and it has taken me until now to shake it off. It's definitely Sunday, and I'm definitely going into work tomorrow. It's my turn on the rota. It sounds a bit sad but I'm actually almost looking forward to it (risks and all) so I can see some different people and get out in the car.
I don't have anything much to report. DS still needs a haircut and I can't/daren't do it. Been out for a walk both days - on my own yesterday and with dd today. Did a bit of food prep yesterday to keep us going for a couple of days - corned beef hash, bangers and mash and a rice pudding.
Spent some time crocheting, some time reading, some time sitting feeling great and some time sitting feeling utter despair. It is definitely a strange old situation, and by the end of yesterday I didn't want to adult any more. I wanted the company of another adult and someone else to take over the responsibility of looking after me and the kids and the house. Ah well.
I actually have a bit of a craving for salad stuff. This doesn't happen to me very often so of course I don't have any salad stuff. Meh.
Right. I'm off to catch up rather than bore you to death with my nothingness.
