Félicitations on all that painting! That's 270 mins you won't need to spend painting again.Dd is next to me learning Polish - boy, it looks tricky! I have a yen to learn Hindi... I've been reading the papers in French, Spanish and Portuguese which has given me plenty to keep me occupied recently, as well as re-awakening what I know. Though I'm v glad for g00gle's help at times!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!10

We went to see a house up the road from here when we were house hunting, and every single wall and ceiling was swirly artex, every wall, even up the stairwell, every room. Artex makes me come out in hives. Well done on getting it done. It is 4 hours once a year.If you have any sealant left from the bath, put a big line around the loo, before you put the lino down, then seal it around the join when it is done. Makes cleaning go a lot faster and there are no unpleasant surprises it if you decide to lift it to change it - what can I say, I live with 5 boys. 2 minutes effort for effortless cleaning.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Just chipping in to say that my favourite french word is 'truc' which sadly the older I've got seems to become more and more necessary whenever I've had cause to speak french. My eldest got a special mention in his GCSE spoken french by using it when he forgot a word. The invigilator was impressed that he had a go-to instead of just fumbling around.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

What a fantastic idea f0xh0les... I do have some sealant left actually. So you mean seal the loo to the lino so no nasties can get under the floor? I have actually put the floor down, but it's not stuck or secured so I can lift it again to do sealing if need be. The new floor hides the sunken sub floor quite nicely although I can still tell that it's a mess under there - until finances or skills permit though then I will just have to live with it. I'm trying to decide if I like my 'new' bathroom enough to go for a soak in the tub. I haven't done that for years because I hated the bathroom so much. It's a long way from perfect but may be nice enough.
Other than that, I've done the daily walk and am now completely exhausted. Early night tonight I think.

What does 'truc' mean then? I don't think I know that one...

Yep, it sticks the lino down, creates a waterproof barrier, and when you are cleaning the loo or mopping the floor no water seeps through the join (or any other liquid bleugh). Go wild with it. Put a good thick line of it around the bottom of the loo, put the flooring down, give it a good squish so it comes up around the join, and then with a soapy finger smooth it to form a nice seal. Job done, when you come to do up the floor properly, you can just pull off the sealant and it comes off cleanly.

Well done on the bathroom decorating!
@f0xh0les thanks for that tip about the sealant, I shall bear that in mind when I do ours!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee10
