I am in shock. I really think anyway, but I think this might finally all be over.
He didn't turn up at court this afternoon, and it was the same judge that we had seen last time. And he said that there was no point in dragging it out any longer and that he would award the financial order. I have the house, and I have my own pension to keep. I had to swear that the financial statement was correct, and then the judge recorded some long speech on a tape saying that the kids had to come first and that as ex hadn't engaged at all it seemed reasonable that I kept the house as we don't know what his needs are. And as we don't know what his pension provision is like then we should each just keep our own pensions as well.
I had to double, triple check with my solicitor but that really is just about it. There's still a little more expense to come over the next few weeks. I have to have this court order personally served again £126. Ex has the right to appeal if he wishes - although why he would or on what grounds he would I have no idea, and he also has 28 days to sign the transfer deed over to me. If he doesn't then my solicitor can send off the form to court and they will sign it on ex's behalf. Now I just need to get a mortgage (if I now can with the debt I've run up whilst this has been ongoing) so I will put on the list that I need to speak to L&C - see what they say.
I'm celebrating with a sneaky G&T on a school night but I really need to get on with a bit of marking and make sure I get another early night. Not giving up
