When are they holding the interviews?

Hello
Well it's another hot one out there, but thankfully a bit cooler than yesterday. Unfortunately someone across the street is having some sort of party with the worst excuse for music I ever heard booming out at me.
Slept on the sofa again last night, but remarkably well considering the kitten and the temperature. As a result I am feeling a little more like my usual self again today. Still haven't gotten loads done but I'm getting little bits done.
I've done 3 loads of washing and dried 2 (so far - still could do another I reckon), washed up twice, cleaned the kitchen
and covered 2 more bits of my wardrobe as well. I'm definitely not going to have enough plastic to cover it. Think I need 3 more rolls... ugh. But I used my drill and my screwdriver and I'm starting to feel as though I'm getting somewhere with that. Done the usual of putting both the rubbish and the recycling out, entertained the kitten (he's definitely settling, and now a couple of others will be in the same room as him for a short period of time - progress), eaten well, stayed hydrated and feeling ok. There's really not much else to report. I'm pottering about but getting stuff done at a slow pace.
I'm not sure when the interviews are apple - it used to be the case that we would go to London for a face to face interview, but I now suspect that it's all going to be done remotely (if I get that far). I know that the references have been automatically requested straight away and my Head of Department has already done it. Closing date isn't until the 20th though so a while to wait yet. Just hope that I can get at least that far, and remember I am good at this stuff and I can do it.Not giving up

Remember if you do get to London you have the offer of somewhere to stay if needed11

Thank you Jan - that's really kind of you. Nothing to do now except sit and wait.
I'm really pleased to report that the weather is a bit cooler here today so I can at least function. Not that I've done much because I had a bit of a rubbish night last night... kept waking up far too warm, needing the loo and then not able to get back to sleep again. So that always puts me on the back foot again. Kitten is calmer again today and spending less time charging about the house and more time snuggled up sleeping - he definitely doesn't want to be on his own though, but quite happy to sit and chill if someone is in the same room.
So I've done more everyday and annoying jobs rather than anything big today. I've done rubbish, recycling and swept the floors downstairs, plus hoovered in my bedroom which just needed doing even though I'm still on with the wardrobes. I definitely need more of the plastic though so need to stop putting off looking for that and just order it. And I need to be getting on with decorating the stairs next - that's looking fairly awful now compared to the rest of the house.
Still forgot to hang my washing out this morning as well. With the masks. At least we all have another spare one available if we need it but no plans to go anywhere or do anything much at the moment. Went to see my mam for Sunday lunch and a catch up, which I really enjoyed today. I wish I felt more like doing stuff now I'm home but I still don't so I'm going to get on with watching a bit of telly and doing a bit of crochet I think.
Just went out and watered my plants and I have tomatoes, cucumbers and onions successfully surviving out there! It's like witchcraft as Ally would say. Thank god those things thrive on neglect. Shame I couldn't get peppers or courgettes to grow but I am quite happy to see some goodies out there. Not that I have the foggiest idea of when to pick/harvest them, but they are definitely there...
Right - onwards.

When it looks like a reasonable tomato, cucumber or onion, pick it and eat it. Works for me11

How is the toilet roll experiment going? I can't tell you how anxious I am in case it all goes horribly wrong!

Hey f0xh0les
Loo roll is going well. I had my suspicions that a roll of it would disappear more quickly than the usual branded brand but it doesn't seem to be the case, and dd reckons it's better quality than the stuff we usually get. So by my calculations I think it's a no-lose thing on your part.
Apologies for not being here for the past few days. Mojo has somewhat disappeared in the excruciating and uncomfortable heat, which I believe is still a good 10-15 degrees cooler than some are having it. On top of that my old folks (parents) have been doing their best to trigger my anxiety in every way, shape or form.
My mam was the butt of mine and my sister's jokes on Sunday afternoon, because in the 24 degree heat she kept declaring that she was too cold and wore a duffel coat with her hood up at the dinner table. We left a bit early because she said she had a headache as well so I wanted to let her rest. Thought nothing much of it until my stepdad rang Monday night to ask if me and the kids were well, and arrange to come and finish the outhouse for me. Then he casually dropped into the conversation that my mam had gotten so poorly on Sunday night that he had had to call 111 because she got out of bed to go to the loo, fell and couldn't get back up again complaining that she couldn't feel her arms and legs properly. Love that he just dropped that casually into the conversationAnyway, he'd managed to get her up and get her to the local hospital where they insisted that she had an 'infection' (not COVID) and sent her home with antibiotics. She's better but not great, and has insisted that we are not to visit her in case we catch something. My sister was as chewed off as I was that nobody had thought to keep us both informed - mam insisting that there was no point because we couldn't do anything. Needless to say I told my stepdad to forget about the outhouse and focus on looking after my mam short term. She slept all day Monday and felt awful, slept most of the day yesterday but felt better, and has slept most of today as well but feeling better and can get to the loo on her own now. She's a rotten patient that woman.
but I hope she's ok soon because she has a couple of long term conditions that I'm concerned might be getting worse.
On top of that, my dad was admitted to hospital with low potassium levels on Monday after a couple of blood tests and a massive weight loss (he weighs 9 stone - the same as one of my legs). They've sent him home after some treatment and dietary advice. Neither of my folks are getting any younger but they're always just there and always plodding on so I've spent a couple of days worrying about my boomers I don't mind admitting. On top of that the company my stepdad works for are making him redundant, with less than a year to go before his retirement age. He has COPD so was unlikely to return to work anyway but he kind of needs enough of a pay off to get through the next 10 months.
Kitten does not like the heat. He is very relaxed and has made himself a bed in the hood of one of my hoodies that was drying on the living room radiator. He is much calmer and more of a joy to be around than he has been and a couple of my big kitties are coming around to him - very slowly. He prefers their food to his food, and their trays to his tray so we're trying to work around that at the moment. I woke up at 1am having very nearly rolled on him because he'd gotten into bed with me and was snuggled in under my armpit.
Amaz00n have just delivered my latest purchase to continue aiding with project DIY at home. I was struggling to get one of my wardrobe doors off yesterday. Anatomy of the bedroom means that I can't open the door fully, so can't get my screwdriver in to undo the screws (drill or manual). So in a big hairy huff yesterday I googled how to get difficult to reach screws out and discovered the existence of right angled screwdrivers. You really can get anything these days and I'm VERY excited about trying it out.
Me and bestie had a girlie 'shopping' day - which basically involved wandering round a shopping centre, too hot in our masks and not buying anything. I bought a diary as I've not gotten a school planner yet - we all know how I love a list but can't remember anything if I don't write it down. Little mini diary will just help me sort it as I've never gotten round to using the calendar on my phone for anything useful. Other than that I bought stationery for the kids for school and that was it. Very restrained for me. We were out for about 4 hours and that included a coffee stop and a half price Lebanese lunch. Yum.
Got home in time to hang out washing, do a load of bedding after a cat pooed on dd's bed this morningmuch to her horror. That's been washed at high temperature with stain buster and is out drying now. I've even put shorts and t-shirt on but am just quite sleepy now. Need to crochet, need to put the recycling out and I also need to try out the new screwdriver and see if it works.
My diet is a disaster best not mentioned in the current circumstances. Not giving up

Oh dear to the bed! Hooray for the loo roll!It is officially too hot to do anything useful. As long as everyone is fed and there are ice cubes to chase, then that is enough until all this weather is over. These are exceptional conditions and you get to submit a mitigating circumstances form.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
