Morning all
Sorry I didn't check in yesterday - the whole day kind of ran away from me a bit. Got up and pottered around for a bit - went out and picked up bestie's ds so he could spend the day here while his parents were working. Then my friend arrived with her power tools and toolbox and we sorted the outhouse once and for all. The bent old shelves came down and we made some new pine ones with some wood repurposed from my old bed and one of the old cupboards in my room. There was enough wood left over to build a separate shelving unit as well that stands right next to my mini chest freezer. I learned how to use a circular saw and finally used a drill that could get into the brickwork. My stepdad didn't come back as he's still not well so the walls aren't done and clad yet. It took most of the day but I loved the look of the outhouse until I had to put the massive plastic cladding panels back in there, although they will be gone soon. Gave my friend the gin and pamper kit as a thankyou and we've arranged a get together on Wednesday night to drink and celebrate being strong women that can operate power tools.
Then something that I had completely forgotten about happened. My sister collected her new kitten from its owner yesterday afternoon - she's gotten a British Shorthair. Anyway - when she first bought him she mentioned about the runt of the litter, a little cream one that can't be shown because he's not quite perfect and nobody had reserved him. Well of course two things happened - I fell in love because my dream cat is a cream British Shorthair, and the kids wanted him. However, I know we have a lot of cats (although we never replaced Tuxy) and a pedigree is not a cheap option so I said no. Then after much nagging I said that if he didn't have a home by the end of the month I would reconsider. The kids asked my sister about the runt, and my sister said that nobody had chosen him as of yesterday afternoon. I genuinely cannot understand why not because he is the cutest and most gorgeous thing I have ever seen in my life, really little and just because he's not perfect then nobody seems to want him. So guess what we are doing today? Yes we are going to see the kitten that nobody wants. I am hoping to negotiate a price though and have set a maximum budget which I absolutely will not exceed. I am the queen of rescuing cats that nobody wants but I cant blow the budget doing it. Kids are ridiculously excited, as am I if I'm honest - need to keep my head in gear though.
Also will be seeing my bestie for a good catch up. Home improvement on the back burner today.
