I agree it should be on your deeds. Many years ago I asked my mortgage provider to look at the deeds & they did, but I doubt they even hold them now as most of them seem to be registered with the land registry, but always worth a try.

I feel your pain CCL I am also at fence gate with the neighbours, the bottom fence has been pushed through by their trees and has needed replacing for almost a year, its a council property so I have got absolutely nowhere with this being resolved. Thankfully my dad has managed to get around 10m of wood to replace this and half the fence to the left which needs re-doing once I pull the shed down!Pennies starts again...........2022 - £13,579.2211

All I know about fences is that the fence to the left of your house as you stand looking at it from the street is your responsibility. No idea about the back fence, apart from if the 'nice side' is facing your garden it was probably put up by your house. If the side with all the batons and things are on your side it was probably put up by your neighbour. Either way you can leave the nasty fence there and put one up 6 inches further in to your garden and shout 'Don't touch my f-ing fence' and 'Get off my land' if he comes near you. It might be that fencers and that type of chap are cheaper coming into Autumn than in the height of summer. Keep an eye out on Q&B and W1ckes for when they reduce their fencing panels then you can just pay for the 'fit' rather than the 'supply and fit'.btw. You still rock! and get that wool into the living room where you can see it.Wooooah, she's over half way there, wooah, carpets on the stairs! (next)4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Ah Fence gate. My awful neighbour and his dog (plus previous abusive behaviour) led to us to getting a fence put up to the tune of almost two thousand pounds. It will be on your deeds, tho ours was on his side so we had the fence built in our garden, next to his ramshackle fence (honestly part of it was made out of old oven shelves) that his dog bounced off of.
House is going to be amazing when you are done CCL XXX impressive stuff XXXNevertheless she persisted.12 -
She is probably rolling around on her lovely new carpet right now, gathering carpet fluff and putting up her lovely new bed, watching the skip lorry drive away, while baking golden chick'n and thoroughly rocking the domestic goddess role.

I have just googled whiose fence and this is what I got. If its not registered I assume your mortgage co. should be able to help.Which side of the boundary is mine? There is no general rule about whether you are responsible for the boundary fence on the left or right or rear of the property. If your property is registered at the Land Registry you can obtain what is called an 'office copy' comprising a title plan and register details.

It isn't that simple I'm afraid. Depends on so many factors. CCL has mentioned her property is ex LA and they usually simply passed the responsibility for boundary maintenance when selling for the first time. It often therefore depends on which property was sold first. Deeds started to be dematerialised in 2004 and are likely to have been posted to CCL, retained by a solicitor on a remortgage or destroyed. If not held you can get a copy of the title from the land registry for £3, however you are likely to need a copy of the original transfer or conveyance from the local authority to tell you, that isn't a matter of public record and I don't know how you get it but shouldn't be an issue. One point for general information though is that a lot of titles are actually silent as to boundary maintenance.

Looks like you are buying a perimeter fence then CCL if the troll at the bottom of the garden will not play ball.
