Thanks @RosaBernicia the commute is 90 minutes.
That sounds close enough to dash over the minute something comes on the market if needed.Packing service was a godsend IMO, though if doing it again I would be sticking post-its on each cupboard - some of the labelling must have made sense to the packers but 'crockery' wasn't very helpful to me in guessing which of 4 boxes might have the plates I needed vs less urgent cocktail shaker. Or possibly just as urgent

Wonderful you have an offer on your house. As others said there is no point for paying for jobs to be done although be prepared for them to try to renegotiate when the survey is done. Hopefully though as you had so much interest that won't happen.
When we moved to another area we rented to get a feel for it but it was almost 5 hours away so a lot further than you plan to move. Also over the winter people often take houses off as they don't want to move over Christmas and there is normally a surge of new stock in the Spring. Not sure how long this stamp duty holiday will last though so that is something to consider.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks @another_casualty for another helpful post. I agree, everything into storage. Thanks for the DD heads
Thanks @RosaBernicia a cocktail shaker should be packed with the kettle for immediate use
Thanks for the good wishes @HairyHandofDartmoor
Thanks @enthusiasticsaver I am 90 minutes into the city and probably another 45 minutes to get to where I will be staying. It was important for me to be able to get to family and friends in a relatively quick time. It's different when you are moving further away with a partner. The SD last until 31st March. I will keep looking, but if I don't find what I need I will have to suck up stamp duty. That said, house prices may ease a little so it may balance out after SD ends. Who knows?

Back late last night from caring duties. All good and my relative is putting up a good fight. A bittersweet time for me. Tired again and aware I've let my own priorities slip.
Today, the main task is getting all my house/legal bumph completed and posted.
Raining all morning but expected to dry up this afternoon. I plan to knuckle down this morning and go into town this afternoon to PO. After the PO I will treat myself to a coffee out and a browse in the health shop.
I went back to a veggie box fortnightly to reduce my shopping trips as the R rate is high. The box comes today so I will be making soup.
I may achieve other things today but soup and legal are the priorities although there are so many other things to do too!
Wishing you all a day where you get what you need to too.

90 mins ( okay 2 hrs ) is great DIA 🚃🚞. It'll seem far enough away from the stresses of your soon to be previous life , but not too long to see relatives and friends when you want and need to .As for possible stamp duty costs etc, if you get a good price for your home and a potential good price if you wish to proceed with your future purchase , those costs could be possibly minimal .Looking back at my situation in my first diary, you've probabky noticed me being swayed by the ( now in hindsight) greedy estate agent . I knew he was too bullish and optimistic ,and went with him . When he first mentioned the price , I asked him if it was overpriced by a certain amount but sales were well until brexit affected everything .You have a very good estate agent , and a lot of sales are going ahead in certain areas due to stamp duty etc so ✌️ All is well .Hang in there.Have a good weekend 💦💦5

Thanks AC
I do recall your EA in the first diary! So far my EA has been great (and he was the least pushy/bullish of the EAs on offer). No complaints. The legal stuff is requested by the solicitor.
Some things will cost me more and some things less. Swings and roundabouts. As you say I will hang on in there. I will find somewhere sooner or later, and my house will be sold sooner or later. Maybe it is because I am tired but feeling quite Zen today! I go to look at a house next week so who knows? If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I hope you find somewhere soon. I expect AC can relate to this too but it is exciting but scary too to move out of an area you have lived in for a long time. I was born in the Greater London area and lived there for 28 years until we moved to Cornwall. Now we have lived here more than in London. It takes a while to feel like home though. Good luck with house viewing next week.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
