Are you going into furnished or unfurnished rental ? That will make a difference to rental costs and also need for storage costs. Do your sums x5

Thanks @another_casualty and @jwil
Thanks @RosaBernica good tip for organising my boxes
Thanks @Debsnewbudget I will be looking at furnished. It may be more expensive but I am unwilling to live surrounded by stuff as it puts me on edge. The other option would be to rent a 2 bed and use one room for storage and not rent a storage unit at all. That would save money but would take coordinating! I prefer the idea of having everything stored in one place. I am balancing saving money with saving sanity. I am doing this alone so I need to take the lowest stress option where I can afford to do so.
My options are
Staying with friend A, and putting everything in storage in area I intend to live
Staying with friend B, and putting everything in storage in area I intend to live
Putting everything in storage in the area I intend to live and living abroad with a relative for 3/6 months, coming back and staying with A, or B and commuting to find a new home in the area of choice
Buying a home in the new area and not renting at all
My other relative is very unwell so travel away from her is probably out of the question.
A part of me would be more comfortable buying a home and moving straight in. That would be riskier as I might not enjoy the new area longer term. But I am not totally risk adverse and no decision is irreversible. That said, I won’t compromise on the next place. I would need to love it.
I have washing done and out drying. I made chickpea pizza bases and soup. The rest of today will be staying local and being very low spend.
Wishing you all a lovely Saturday

A few options you have there DIA .If it were me , I'd rent a place for 6 months . Reasons being : you could still see friends A&B at any time , plus you go back to the rented place giving yourself full flexibility .
Plus everyone has their own space , yourself included .I'd put everything in storage straight away , and you haven't got that hanging over you when you go to your rented place. Your sleeping pattern will probably be out of sync anyway with all the stress , but the thought of you doing what you want when you want is key to getting used to everything once you have taken the plunge .I know it's mse , but you have probably got to the stage of my first diary where I wasnt mse at times as I had nothing until the sale of my flat went through and I could finally release all of that tension and anguish .Anyway, that's me who I see a straightforward . ( I stand to be corrected 😸) .
You'll get lots of other suggestions , and the final decision is with yourself .I definitely would not go abroad at this time.I hope things improve for you relative , but you're doing the best you can .
I'm off to get some sunshine ☀️Have a good weekend ☀️🌦🐿7 -
I rather like the idea of staying with friends, at least initially - it gives you flexibility to move whenever you find your own place, or to shift to rented if it looks like that will take a while - and a bit of support on hand for the transition. It does depend how much of a commute that would be though.

Nice to have options and keep them all open until you decide what's best for you. It's a lot to consider, so I think roll with it and you will be fine. I think you make such good decisions anyway, so am confident whatever you do it will turn out just fine.

I think you have plenty of options there for you to mull over . I think for me staying with a friend initially would be the best as there would be support and help with finding a new home. I guess you had better get the packing boxes out a be ruthless when doing it.Happy Sunday .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.6

Thanks @another-casualty
I've now finished your 1st diary. There was so much love for you on there. I will definitely put everything in storage straightaway. That is the only thing I'm clear about right now. How did you get your stuff out and into your new place? Your brother? Not covered in your 1st diary...
Thanks @RosaBernicia the commute is 90 minutes.
Thanks @moneyonmymindsam your confidence in my decision making abilities made me smile. Thank you!
Thanks @Sunshine_girl2 I will be packing from next weekend onwardsIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Hi DIA 😼
Thanks for your persistence in reading that diary . Of course this is your diary, but the funny thing when I joined mse with it , I didn't understand the diary section or looked.
I was just getting as much help and I was just looking for help in sorting out my life baggage , and have been here since .I found a local removal co . Who moved my stuff from big yellow storage to my home . 2 nice chaps , cannot remember their complany .Found them via google .This post has been edited , as I misread your query due to tiredness 😸
I'll leave it there ..5 -
