I think at some point we make our homes our own - and realise we didn't quite before. It's like we've lived here since 06 but there are plants and trees I have hated that I only just gave myself permission to get rid of even though they predated us. My DH thought it was just him that needed my permission - but actually I struggle to get rid of a lot of things in the house or out. It generally has to go to a good home for me to let it go - or truly be past its best eg have holes etc or be broken.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm normally not too bad at getting rid of stuff but for years I've been holding on to a pair of kitchen scales that I haven't used for - well years! For sentimental reasons because DD bought them for me. They're more picturesque than practical. They were kept out on the worktop for ages but I actually use digital scales for cooking. They then went into the kitchen cupboard as I needed the space for more useful equipment. I've finally relegated them to the charity shop bag ready for when we come out of lockdown as I'm never going to use them - and I've got other nice things that DD bought me that I do treasure. 😀

Thanks everyone
You know that advert where the mother goes in the son's room and almost faints but the son can't smell it because he is 'nose blind' to the smell? Well I got used to the way my house is. It takes time, and energy, and a different way of looking that might come from sitting in a different place, or someone visiting, or someone saying something, or moving furniture, or the bright light of a Spring day to see a change is needed. Sometimes, for some things, it also takes money. The lockdown has really helped as it has given me time to assess and follow things through.
Yesterday and TodayI got rid of a box of papers yesterday and threw out some very tatty slippers I had become too attached to
My wool jumpers have been washed ready to pack away. I did this once but it got cold so I took them out of storage to wear...
I took a digital step forward and now have N3tflix. I don’t want to up my screen time but I miss cinema and TV seems to be a menu of repeats. It is a small amount of money and even if I watch something once a week it will be worth the cost.
I created a Zoom account too, ready for a meeting next week
A bit of a headache today and it is sunny so I will be staying in today and working.
Today I will also carry on sorting finances and I should complete the application that progresses freeing up finances to fund the work on the bathroom. It should be less stressful as I have already started
The plan is to do a little gardening when it is cooler this evening but I said that yesterday so not 100% sure…
It is hot today so I am really pleased I managed to get my fan.
Have a lovely day all

I think Netflix is worth it. There's a bit on there that doesn't interest me but plenty of stuff that does. I'm currently watching their new series 'White Lines' As you say there's nothing but repeats on TV and I've already seen quite a lot of the newish films when I went to the cinema before the lockdown. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

All good stuff DIA as usual 😼
In this weather , a Zoom Ice lolly is probably more beneficial . Well done on taking another technical frog 🐸.I'm going to take Netflix out again . Probably this weekend . I probably mentioned before , but I was throwing money out the door when I was using it . I had it on tv and ipad .
i kept meaning to take it off as I got bored with it . The plan now is to take it out for 2 months on tv only ( cheaper ) , watch the latest series of better call Saul and see if anything else is on there since I quit around january . Then I will quit using it for a while ...4 -
The financial frog that was half eaten has been fully swallowed. I read all I needed to, got outside opinions, checked all the charges involved and it is done. I feel great relief and hopefully I have secured the labour costs for the bathroom...
I checked and the bathroom outlet store has reopened but appointments have to be made to look in the store. I will start weekly appointments.
The outbuilding will be done tomorrow as I have used up my energy stressing about finances.
On a different note I changed from fortnightly to weekly for the veg box as I have managed to wean myself off the expensive milk I liked, so more money freed-up. I have made a switch from black tea to green tea which is antioxidant rich and great for my health condition. Winner winner chicken dinner
Off to relax and make a cup of tea but will be back to read other people's diaries
