Wednesday2000 said:I looked inside the shop and waited until it was empty and as I was paying some moron walked past me laden with loo roll …..
Some lovely posts this morning. Who'd have thought we had so many lurkers? You'd be very welcome to post.
It's glorious here and supposedly getting even warmer. You'll be needing those summer clothes LL!
It'll be interesting to see if this regular exercise extends beyond the 'lockdown'. I'm sure here are people out walking and cycling who don't normally find the time. Yesterday, we had a fairly long walk (probably longer than strictly allowed but I don't think my neighbours will report me) part of which was along the riverbank park. It was lovely to see people out with their children. Mostly we are seeing social distancing observed with a smile but there are a few (mostly engrossed in their phones) who seem oblivious and some pavements just aren't wide enough. Fortunately with so little traffic, we're able to step into the road for a moment.
Enjoy your grapefruit Wednesday and the avocados. Yum! Like sugarbaby, I've been making a bit of an effort with meals. I think people who follow these mse boards are ahead of the pack in terms of planning ahead and not wasting anything. We always eat well but somehow the routine of eating regularly and eating healthily seems to help us cope. It's probably to do with being in control of something in our lives while everything else is so uncertain.
Off out for a walk again this afternoon. We'll know every last inch of our neighbourhood very soon.

Yes, we want the lurkers to post more on here.
Maman - someone I know on another forum said the same thing, that she was now exploring her neighbourhood with her husband on their daily walks.5 -
Another lurker here too
Have been reading along for months and enjoying the conversations but felt I needed to post to agree with LL that we really must be kind to each other during these testing times.
Like Maman we have been exploring our local area, DH and I managed 12000 steps yesterday, hardly saw a soul. I may suggest that we get up really early tomorrow and do the same again before anyone is around.
When I went to post I had been locked out grrrrr ! as I had only been lurking I had read about the problems , anyway hopefully sorted, can't promise to post every day but will try.
Keep smiling everyone

Hello Ladies,
In March, I did not manage to reach my monthly saving goal of £400, I only saved £272.As I exceeded my saving goal in January and February, I have saved a further £1,600 in 3 calendar months in 2020. As I started 2020 with savings of £2000, I now have £3,600 saved.
I am not disappointed, as I have ended up with a lot of unplanned spending due to the current corona virus pandemic. I have felt that I need to stockpile certain necessary non food items like sanitary towels and panty liners. I also bought a few household items that will make life more comfortable overall in the coming months of lockdown.
It is great to have a day so warm, that I could turn the central heating off for today. But, as I expected, the sunshine has made people forget that they are supposed to be doing social distancing and staying at home .:o My Housing Association Estate where I live, has been very quiet since the start of the lockdown, but today there are far too many people outside on the Estate, including unsupervised children. There is loud music and they seem to think it is time to party in the sun.I am taking no chances with the vastly increased numbers of people out and about and have decided that the safest thing I could do was stay at home until the weather becomes cooler again.
I am not finding staying at home difficult, as I had so many recorded TV programmes and films that I have not had time in the past to watch, but as I need to rest, watching TV forces me to rest without worrying about what else needs to be done like housework or laundry. I have been forced to slow down and it is certainly not doing me any harm.

Welcome daisy. 🙂 Wow! 12 000 steps! DH and I did 10 000+ yesterday but that's going some. Today we just walked very locally and only managed about half that. ☹️
That's a shame about so many people treating today like a party round your way sugarbaby. I fear that could cause more sanctions as it was the fine weekend a couple of weeks ago that caused so many parks and gardens to shut down. ☹️
I think we've all done a bit of stockpiling. I always bulk buy offers or things from shops I don't go to very often so it's not a new thing for me . I didn't personally but I know many people stocked up for fear of a No Deal Brexit. Now I know that the supermarkets are well stocked, I'll go back to writing my meal plan from what I have in and only buying the fresh stuff that I really need. Obviously I hope we won't get any virus symptoms but if it did happen we have plenty to eat and DD1 lives close by and could shop for us if needed (or vice versa as she's a key worker so more at risk ☹️).
As I've said before, I think keeping a structure is very important. It's Saturday night so I'm enjoying my wine. 😁🍷

Another lurker coming out to say thank you to LL for clarifications. I have enjoyed reading these posts, in fact found them very helpful these last few weeks - although I did not like the turn it was taking the last few days. Hopefully that is now behind and we can all carry on with our positive fabbing. I have been doing my make up and getting myself dressed up and being as positive as possible and this thread has been a lifeline for me.Debt free and Keeping on Track7

Well done Mrs Porridge . 😁
It's all too easy to slob about when you're at home all day.
Your username got me thinking that porridge oats are one of the few things that are slow to come back to the supermarket. We were lucky to get some when we called into a little local Sainsburys on one of our daily walks. We're fortunate, living in a city that there are shops everywhere. I hope you're well stocked up. 😁6 -
I was very saddened to see the recent turn of negativity especially towards Sugar. It was truly uncalled for to treat a friend so poorly especially while recovering. I know your a strong person Sugar but negativity towards you is wrong. Just keep on recovering and getting your strenght back. Your totally right, stay in while it is busier and rest well. There will be many nice days in the summer to enjoy the sun ahead, keep well.
I hope all the lurkers join in, welcome to the party.
I working still. The public are 95% great and super understanding. I think of the remainder as the facepalm group (just don't touch your face). Its so sad to look at the streets empty but also inspiring to realize that we get it and are doing our part. It's so difficult for some people but as a natural introvert and food hoarder it's like i've been preparing for this.
I prepared a pantry meal- i was inspired by the new york times "the stew" and made coconut curried lentil and chickpea stew. It was lovely and I used dried vegetables, tinned chickpeas and package lentils. It would have cost so little and with no oil, it will be a new favourite. I'm trying to reduce my meat consumption and be more creative, I've reduced my food waste and am going to be more careful in future.
My hair is getting very broken- I wish that i did not avoid my hairdresser in Janurary or Feburary- Its going to be very weak and limp by the time this gets back to normal. I cut my hair once and i ended up looking really bad. It was like a disaster, if at all possible avoid or do it early in lock down so it can grow out.

Thanks Mrs P.All these folk doing 10k, 12k steps.....you put me to shame. 😉Mind I'm still having a fibro flare, my body feels like it's been hit by a truck. However I did force myself to walk to one of the local shops for eggs and a bit of fresh veg. Not much choice but it will keep me going for a few days. Aiming to go to Aldi mid week when hopefully it will be quieter.Just watched a film called Atomic Blond. Charlize Theron as a MI6 agent. It's rather gory although the violence is comic book style but I just loved her clothes. Throughout the film she dresses in black and white. Super stylish. Then just at the end when she polishes off the super bad guy she wears a fabulous red coat.Had a good look at my summer clothes as I was sorting out my wardrobe. Not looking too bad, a few gaps but nothing urgent. When this is over I shall definitely be indulging in a little retail therapy, especially some nice new undies.Add it to the list of physio, the dentist, the opticians, a haircut......all the appts I had to cancel. And I'm crying out for a massage. 😂. I have got a hand held self massage gizmo but it's not the same. I bought some OTC anti inflammatories, not made a blind bit of difference. Hoping the sun might work some magic tomorrow.9

Hello to the new people!
I had intended to wake up very early and go for my walk this morning but I stayed up quite late watching TV. I managed to get out by 8.45 and walked for 40 minutes. It feels like summer out there, gorgeous weather. There were far less people around at that time.I did walk past the local shops and one looked too busy and one has (finally!) started to make people social distance and there was a queue outside so I didn't bother going in to get anything.
I listened to the end of the podcast while I was walking and Dr Chatterjee made some excellent points. He was saying that the positives of this crisis were that we are starting to see the value of food and also value people like the key workers (like supermarket workers and bin men) who we don't normally think about too much as a society.
I always thought of myself as a minimalist but I am noticing how many things I have in my home that I barely use or get any value from. I have a stupid amount of beauty products for example! This time is helping me to work through them.
I really felt that walk in my thighs and that shows how much my muscles have weakened in 10 days of staying indoors, even when using my trampoline on and off. That is disgraceful as I am a healthy 44 year old woman. I am going to nip that in the bud and I am going to do some leg exercises on my yoga mat later to hopefully strengthen up a bit.
I am going to start my new book and hang up my laundry. I recently bought a Lakeland airer (amazingly Amazon delivered it next day delivery) and I really like it, although it is nice enough today to hang the washing outside! I am going to hang up my laundry, have a protein rich breakfast and start my new book.
I hope everyone has a nice day.
